To whom it may concern,
My husband and I have been filing our taxes through your service for over 20 years as middle-class workers - a police officer and a teacher with three children. We typically paid over $[redacted] annually for your services with the same tax preparer for 17 years. Last year in [redacted], we were shocked to find out we owed $9,[redacted] due to taxes not being adequately withheld. Furthermore, one of my W-2 forms was not submitted, resulting in an additional $5,[redacted] owed to the IRS. Despite informing the preparer of my job change, this critical information was overlooked.
After providing all necessary documentation and explanations, we were met with indifference and a dismissive attitude, leaving us with a total IRS debt of $14,[redacted]. This experience has been incredibly distressing and disappointing after years of loyalty and financial investment in your services. We feel undervalued and disregarded as customers, leading us to seek alternative tax preparation services in the future. This situation has had far-reaching consequences for our family's financial well-being, causing significant stress and regret in choosing your company.

I am using H&R Block [redacted] Deluxe software to file my taxes as a minister with a housing allowance. I encountered an issue with the software when I changed churches during the year. The problem is that when I enter data for my second employer, it overwrites the information from the first employer instead of creating a separate clergy worksheet for each employer and adding them together on Schedule SE. Even though I manually checked the clergy worksheet after entering the first W-2 information, it still gets replaced by the second W-2 data. While I can do the calculations myself and enter them on one W-2, it would make my W-2 information incorrect. I have used H&R Block since the 1990s and am familiar with handling housing allowances and Schedule SE, but this issue needs to be addressed for accurate filing.

I need to file a formal complaint against the Portage Trail location in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. Before arriving, I spoke with Sharon O’Donnell to confirm my price. Despite verifying the cost on the phone and online, the final price jumped from $[redacted] to $[redacted] after over an hour of tax preparation due to various typos and an incorrect address on my city refund. When I brought up the discrepancy, Sharon's response was dismissive. She claimed I should have known about extra costs for student loan statements, which were not communicated upfront. The lack of professionalism and knowledge displayed during this experience was disappointing. The advertised upfront pricing was not evident in this case.

As a loyal customer for 15 years, I'm disappointed with my recent experience during tax season. Due to a challenging illness forcing me to leave my job, I was relying on a refund advance that I later found out required a credit check. I feel misled as I was never informed about this requirement by HRBlock or my tax advisor, despite receiving emails about pre-qualification. The lack of transparency and communication from HRBlock has left me feeling frustrated. I believe the company should consider compensating me for the confusion and distress caused, especially considering my health circumstances and the delays in IRS fund releases. It's disheartening to be treated poorly after paying $[redacted] for tax services, especially amidst my current health struggles.

I attempted to file my tax return on 01/28/[redacted] but was rejected due to a wrong PIN. Despite entering the correct PIN provided by the IRS, H&R Block continued to reject my return. When I called customer service on 01/30/[redacted], I was directed to the IRS for help with my IP PIN. After confirming with the IRS that everything was fine, I still faced rejections from H&R Block. On 02/01/19, I used a competitor's service and my return was accepted without issues. When I contacted H&R Block on 02/02/[redacted] to request a refund for the premium federal return services, both Ileen and Regina informed me that I did not seek assistance prior to using a competitor's service. Despite seeking help on 01/30/[redacted] and being turned away, I was not eligible for a refund based on their policy. I am now requesting a refund of $49 per the money back guarantee within the 60-day period.

On 2/1/19 at 10:13 am, I bought the Deluxe+State software for $44.95 but haven't downloaded it yet. I've been a loyal user for over 20 years and never received a discount. Then, on 2/1/[redacted] at 6:03 pm, I got an email offering the same software for only $27.48, 50% less. This seems unfair. I'd like a refund for the price difference or a refund for the first purchase so I can buy the discounted one before it expires.

I submitted my tax return at an office on February 1, [redacted], for the third consecutive year. I signed up for MyBlock and was informed that I could receive copies of this year's return as well as the previous two years' returns that were prepared. I requested copies of this year's return before leaving the office and was assured it could be done. However, upon checking MyBlock, I found no tax information for this year or previous years. The IRS has not received my return even after more than 48 hours. HR Block customer service representatives are unable to provide me with any information about my return and I am required to wait for a call from a specific department. The documents I received at the tax office only include a summary, not the actual tax forms sent to the IRS. The filing cost is presented as a total amount without a breakdown, which I find concerning as I was charged per form. I am requesting HR Block to get in touch with me, provide copies of the forms sent to the IRS, and explain the filing costs before 5:00 pm Eastern Time on February 3, [redacted]. Otherwise, I will notify the IRS about the issues I have raised repeatedly without any resolution.

I have been using your tax software since [redacted]. This year, I asked for a product refund and went back to Turbotax. I finished my tax returns but couldn't e-file due to my state (WI) forms not being ready. Spending 2 hours on the phone with support, I was wrongly told that my state was the reason for the delay, which was not true. I managed to complete my taxes and e-file both Federal and State through Turbotax, with my Federal return already accepted and my state return pending. It seems like I will get my refund sooner than if I had waited to e-file using your product. I won't risk facing the same issue next year; this is unacceptable.
Update 2-6: My state return has been accepted.

To whom it may concern,
I wish to express my deep disappointment with the service I received at your Niles, Illinois office yesterday. My appointment, scheduled with Alison in advance for 5:00, started poorly when I arrived early at 4:45 and was ignored for over 20 minutes. Laura eventually attended to me, although I had not made the appointment with her. Her lack of understanding and inefficient handling of my taxes was frustrating. Despite having six W-2s, she struggled and inaccurately calculated my refund. This led me to leave the office feeling upset and dissatisfied. I ended up preparing my taxes at home in 40 minutes. However, I now face difficulties with the Refund Anticipation Loan (RAL) and paying back the advance without receiving my refund until the end of February. I am uncertain how to proceed with applying the refund to my Emerald card. Due to this experience, I have no intention of returning to your office.
Sincerely,
BB

On January 22, [redacted], I visited the H&R Block located at [redacted] Frankford Ave, Philadelphia, PA [redacted]. Saraellen Hall completed my taxes and I requested an advance and an emerald card. Despite being informed that I might pay more for the advance and card, I applied for an advance of up to $3,[redacted]. After receiving no notification within 24 hours and finding no record of my taxes or advance when I called the [redacted] number, I contacted the office. Saraellen mentioned difficulties in submitting my taxes, promising to update me by the end of the business day. Surprisingly, shortly after this conversation, I received an email notification approving a $[redacted] advance. I am puzzled about why the issue was resolved only after my complaint, why I received the smallest advance amount, and why I was charged for a speedy service that required my intervention to be completed. These uncertainties make me question the accuracy of my tax preparation and the transparency of the process. If I had been fully informed from the beginning, I would have considered other tax service options.

I'm frustrated about the H&R Block refund advance process this year. It seems like many others are experiencing the same issue. How can I be approved for the advance every year but suddenly this year no one is being approved? I wish I had known about this beforehand as I would have done my taxes independently instead of paying over $[redacted] to H&R Block. We were explicitly told there would be no changes in the approval process by an H&R representative. This feels like a scam. I will not be using their services next year.

I'm reaching out to ensure that my refund is indeed scheduled for direct deposit into my correct account. Thank you for your assistance.

I installed the [redacted] Premier Business software but I am encountering issues importing my [redacted] return, which was also prepared with the H&R Premier Business software. I cannot see my previous year tax return listed under [redacted] returns, and when I attempted to use the browse feature, my files were not visible, only the directory where they are saved (for example, C: drive) without the actual file names. I have the [redacted] return saved on the same computer where I installed the [redacted] software, and in previous years I never had any trouble importing prior returns. The [redacted] software interface seems different, and I would appreciate assistance in resolving why I am unable to import my [redacted] tax return.

Each year, filing my taxes typically only amounts to around $60, as I have a straightforward EZ form. However, to my surprise, this year the charge was $[redacted]! I was not informed in advance about the increase in processing fees. Despite seeing advertisements in the office promoting the EZ file for $59, I ended up paying a much higher fee. I feel deceived due to being a loyal customer at H&R Block. This misleading advertising has left me feeling disappointed. I have decided not to utilize your services in the future and will be sure to share my negative experience. Disappointing!

Good morning,
I am a tax preparer reaching out regarding a client who utilized your in-store services in the past for filing taxes. This client has encountered an issue with the IRS due to a corrected W-2 form being treated as additional taxable income, resulting in an erroneous $[redacted] liability. Despite the individual contacting the preparer's office where the initial return was filed, no action has been taken to rectify this error. The solution to this problem is straightforward, as the corrected W-2 clearly indicates it is a revision from the same employer, for the same time frame, and reflects a discrepancy of less than $[redacted] in gross income compared to the original form. The staff at the Elkton, KY branch must address this promptly, or suitable measures should be taken to ensure proper handling of such cases. I await your prompt response and am willing to provide any necessary details or assistance. Thank you.

I have been a loyal user of H&R Block Tax Software for many years. In late January [redacted], I received a notice in the regular mail with a coupon code (MJH&-3RN) to save $10 on my purchase of H&R Block [redacted] tax software. When I visited www.hrblock.com/direct/[redacted]/DIJON to buy the Premium + State version, the website said the coupon was invalid. Confused, I called the H&R help line and was advised to proceed with the purchase, with a promise they would look into the issue. After spending two hours trying to resolve this, I'm considering switching to TurboTax. If I don't receive a resolution in the next few hours, I may have to explore other options. Thank you.
