What are the hours and when should I call?
Ikea operates the call center for this 888-888-4532 phone number Mon-Sun 9am-10pm ET.The short answer is that you should call on a Tuesday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 343 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
When you use our free AI-powered phone to call and talk, wait on hold, or navigate for you, it will automatically wait until the Ikea call center opens before trying to call. It will ask your permission before it places the call, so you can also further delay that scheduled call until you are ready. But that means you can "set it and forget it" ahead of time.
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Ikea phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Ikea staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.
The least busy time to call
The least busy day to call Ikea is Sunday. The most busy day to call is Saturday, which averages 106% more phone calls by comparison.Again, this is based on a sample of 343 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

Even though Ikea encourages callers to check out its online chatbot for assistance, it's actually very easy to get assistance when you call Ikea for help. When I called, I was first told that working with the online chatbot was the best way to get help and asked if I wanted to get a link to the chatbot. I opted not to do so, instead choosing to wait to see if I could get someone on the phone.
I was then taken to a menu, which asked me for the purpose of my call. I was given a choice of getting help with kitchen-specific items, getting help with an existing order or asking any other kind of question. I chose the third option, and I was again told that I could go online to get assistance. But about a minute after making my selection, I was connected with a representative, who asked how my day was going and asked how she could assist.
I said that I was going to place an order on Ikea's website, and I wanted to know what kind of timeline I had to make a return if it wasn't the right choice for my needs. She told me that would depend on what the item was and whether or not it was open. If the item had been opened, I would have 180 days from the date of purchase to make a return. If I had not opened the item, I had up to one full year to make a return. She also told me that mattresses were an exception, and I could only return a mattress within 90 days.
Based on this, I would definitely use this number if I needed help from Ikea. I found it very easy to get assistance and quickly moved through the system to get someone on the phone, making for an enjoyable experience.

Information about why customers call Ikea is extracted from issues that customers have reported to GetHuman.
If phone-based customer service is not available, or the wait times are long, many people prefer chat as a next-best option. Some even prefer it to calling on the phone. Luckily, Ikea provides this option.
As a last, sometimes only, resort- Ikea customer service can be accessed through their website. This can entail digging through help articles before finding a form and "being allowed" to submit a problem to their team, and rarely leads to a real-time conversation, which is why GetHuman does not recommend this unless it's the only way.
