An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Ikea phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Ikea staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call Ikea is Monday. The most busy day to call is Friday. Again, this is based on a sample of 23,801 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Tuesday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Monday.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call Ikea is Monday. This is not the day with the shortest wait on hold in the phone system, but we still recommend it for its ideal combination of low call volume and short hold times. Plus we believe that Ikea staffs the call center well on Monday.

Calling Ikea was a very easy process. I had a question about a product that I was thinking about buying, but I couldn’t find an answer on the website. I needed to know the material it was made out of and the weight limit since I was considering trying an Ikea hack. The object wasn’t typically used for sitting, but if my hack worked then it would be and I needed to know what the weight limit of the product top would be.

Ikea prides itself on the DIY model so I wasn’t sure how good their customer service would be, but I figured it was worth a try and would save me a trip down to the store. The nearest Ikea is about an hour from me so I didn’t want to drive out there to find out the weight limit if I could avoid it.

It turned out to be a very easy phone conversation and after navigating through a couple of directories I was able to get to a representative. It probably took me a total of about three minutes.

When I called, an automated agent picked up and said, "Hey welcome to Ikea. Ikea is committed to respect and protect your privacy. You can find our privacy at Ikea.com. If you are purchasing for your business, or you are an Ikea business customer, press 8. If you need help with purchasing products, services, or payment options, press 2. For assistance after your purchase, or delivery report, press 3." I chose option 2 and was taken to another menu with the following option, "If you need assistance press 1. To check stock, press 2. For Ikea store information, press 3. For anything else, press 4."

I pressed 4 since my query didn't fit neatly into any of those boxes, and then it told me, "To purchase kitchen products or for planning appointments, press 1. To purchase all other products, press 2. For anything else, press 3." I pressed 3 again for "other" and after briefly being told about a survey opportunity I was connected to Catalina who spoke very clear English and was quite helpful.
