Virgin Mobile is a wireless Telecommunications brand that operates in eight countries. It functions on a franchise model whereby Virgin Mobile partners with a mobile virtual network operator in the country through which they offer their services.

Virgin Mobile has great prices and data plans that are particularly attractive because they can be rolled over from month to month. Moreover, the network has numerous Wi-Fi hotspots in whatever country you are in for example there are over 3.5 million in the UK alone.

Therefore, it is clear to see that ensuring Virgin Mobile Service is active in your area is important. It is especially so if you use Virgin Mobile to conduct business transactions or work.

Lucky for virgin Mobile customers, they can check if the service is available in the area using Virgin's coverage map. You can check the map whenever a connection is down.

However, before checking the local Virgin Mobile coverage site, there are a few things that you should do first.

Troubleshooting Solutions

Power Cycle

If you are facing coverage issues, you should try the oldest device troubleshooting solution there is: switch your mobile phone off and then turn it on again.

If that does not work, try another solution.

Reset Network Settings

You should try resetting your network settings if your phone states that service is down. It will delete your current Bluetooth and Wi-Fi settings.

You do this differently for Android and iPhone.

For iPhone:

1. Go to Settings

2. Click 'General'

3. Click 'Reset'

4. Click 'Reset Network Settings.'

For Android:

1. Go to 'Settings'

2. Click 'Mobile Networks'

3. Click 'Network Operator'

4. Select 'Virgin Mobile'

Change Phones

If you still do not have a signal after trying the solutions above, you should insert your SIM card into a different phone. This procedure should isolate whether the issue is with the device or with the network.

If the SIM card gets a signal in the other phone, then your device is the problem. If there is still no signal, you should check your country's Virgin Mobile service coverage map.

Checking for Outages

Virgin Mobile's network may be unavailable as a result of a system failure or if the network is shut down for planned maintenance. If you want to find out if the network is available in your area at that moment, follow these steps:

1. Launch your web browser

2. Open the local Virgin Mobile Coverage Map

3. Click the 'Outages' tab

4. Input an address in the empty address field and tap the search button

5. Click an affected tower if that is the case. You should receive additional information about the outage or planned maintenance. You should also receive the expected finish or resolve date.

If you still cannot find out if your area is affected by an outage or if the coverage map states that the service in your area is fine but you have no service, you should call customer care.

You can reach them in the following ways:

Phone

Virgin Mobile customer service is only a phone call away. It is the fastest way to talk directly to a Virgin Mobile customer service agent.

The agent should be able to tell you if the service is available in your area and if not, when to expect the network to return to normal.
