Linking Your Bank Account to Your Vanguard Account

If you want to use electronic bank transfers to fund your Vanguard account, you first need to link your bank account to your Vanguard account. To do that, follow these instructions:

1. Go to the Vanguard website.
2. Log into your account.
3. Click on Profile and Account Settings in the My Accounts menu at the top of the page.
4. Go to the Banking and Money Movement section.
5. Click on Bank Information.
6. Click the Add a New Bank Account button.
7. Enter your name, bank account number, and bank routing number in the appropriate fields.
8. Double-check all the information on this page.
9. Click the Review button.
10. Review the information on this page.
11. Click on Continue to E-Sign.
12. Answer the security question.
13. Click on the Sign & Submit button.

How to Make an Electronic Bank Transfer

To transfer money to your Vanguard account via Electronic Bank Transfer, follow these instructions:

1. Log into the Vanguard website.
2. Go to the Buy Funds page.
3. Select a mutual fund to send the money to.
4. Enter the amount to transfer in the text field beside the fund name.
5. Click on the Continue button.
6. Select your bank account from the drop-down menu on the right side of the page.
7. Click on the Continue button.
8. Review the details of the transaction.
9. Click on the Submit button.

How to Make a Wire Transfer

You can also wire money from your bank to Vanguard. To do so, follow these instructions:

1. Log into your Vanguard account.
2. Select the Buy & Sell option from the My Accounts menu at the top of the page.
3. Click on the Wire Money to a Vanguard Account link in the Additional Resources section.
4. Provide the information you are given to your bank so it can complete the wire transfer.

How to Fund Your Vanguard Account with a Check

You can even use a check to fund your Vanguard account. Just follow the instructions for making an Electronic Bank Transfer above. However, in step 6, select "I'll send a check to Vanguard" from the dropdown menu instead of your bank. Then print out the purchase form and send it and your check to the address indicated on it.
