British Airways has three very convenient ways to check in for your flights. However, you will always need your booking reference to check in, so make sure you have it ready when checking in.

Online

Check-in opens 24 hours before your flight. Visit the British Airways webpage and select the "Manage" tab on the top-left corner. You will be requested to fill in your booking reference and your surname. You can then either select the find my flight option or the online check-in option.

With the app

The British Airways App is available for Apple and Android devices. Once downloaded on your device you can check in for your flight through the app. What makes the app is that you can also check in and download digital boarding passes for up to eight people. This is great when travelling with a group or with your family. The app also has great additional features such as tracking your flight status. If you want to make use of a BA lounge you will be able to get the Wifi password through the app.

At the airport

You can also check in at the airport BA kiosk if you have not checked in by using the above methods. Other than your booking reference you will also need a form of identification. You can also check in at the check-in desk when you drop off your baggage.

Important things to remember

  • Make sure you know when your check-in time for your flight closes. Most check-ins close an hour before your flight.
  • Make sure you are familiar with baggage policies. If you comply with the requirements you can drop off your baggage and get through boarding gates with your hand luggage much quicker.
  • If you are traveling outside the country make sure you have the necessary travel documents. Make sure the country you are traveling to does not require you to have a visa or if you do need one that you have the necessary supporting documentation with you.
