Cryptocurrency used to be thought of as a passing fad in its early days, now there are many such exchanges available that provide services worldwide. Bitstamp, headquartered in Luxembourg, is one of them. Users can trade fiat, bitcoin, and tether among other cryptocurrency types. Opening an account is free but there are a few stops. Read on to learn more.

A Few Informational Basics

You'd need to provide some details about yourself when you open the account. Be ready to provide your first and last name, phone number for verification in case you need to use the Bitstamp app in the future, and your email address. You'll also need to provide your date of birth. Please keep in mind that if you're interested in a business account, you'll need to click on the Open button located in a section labeled Opening a Corporate Account.

The front and back of a valid photo I.D., a bill or statement confirming residency, and your social security number are also required as part of the verification process. It's important to keep in mind that Bitstamp isn't allowed in all the states yet.

To Create Your Account

First, visit the official website at www.bitstamp.net and click on the green Get Started button near the upper right-hand corner.

Next, fill in your name, email address, and date of birth. Click the Continue button. You will receive a confirmation email. If you don't see it right away, please check your spam or junk folder. Please click the link within 2 hours. Reach out to Bitstamp's customer service line here if you have any issues or questions.

Creating a password may come after your email address is confirmed as an added security measure. Next, you will be given a user I.D. and asked to verify your identity. You'll first need to confirm your nationality and provide your address. Upload the front and back of your I.D. as well as proof of residency.
