When I dialed, I was first taken to an automated menu that asked me to make one of two selections if I was either a dealer or looking for an outdated part for repairing an appliance. If neither applied to me, I could stay on the line and wait on hold for the next available representative.

After a hold of about five minutes, I was connected with a Jenn-Air customer service representative, who asked how they could help me. I told them I had accidentally tripped a circuit breaker and caused the power to go out for my refrigerator, and I was wondering how long I had before I needed to worry about what was inside my fridge.

He said that in almost every case, I should be fine keeping what was in the fridge there without throwing anything away.
