What are the hours and when should I call?
American National Insurance Co. operates the call center for this 800-899-6806 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Monday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 195 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
When you use our free AI-powered phone to call and talk, wait on hold, or navigate for you, it will automatically wait until the American National Insurance Co. call center opens before trying to call. It will ask your permission before it places the call, so you can also further delay that scheduled call until you are ready. But that means you can "set it and forget it" ahead of time.
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this American National Insurance Co. phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like American National Insurance Co. staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

Calling American National Insurance is only productive if there's somebody on the other end to answer your phone call, as the automated system is completely useless in providing assistance.
The automated system seems to set up well in giving you assistance, as it takes you through a deep menu to provide information about yourself and the policy that you're looking for information about. Whether you provide much information depends on what answer you suggest.
If you select an auto or homeowner's insurance policy and nobody's available, you won't get a request for any information whatsoever. All that will happen is the system telling you that nobody is free to take your call at this time, and you can leave a message if you want. At that point, the system hangs up on you.
Trying to go for a life insurance policy brings a more detailed menu, but it still doesn't get you any assistance. If you go this route, the system will ask you to enter your birth date, presumably so that you can waste as little time as possible when speaking to a customer service representative.
After providing the information, the system took me to another area, which said that the office was not able to take my call and I would need to call back at another time. It then hung up, giving me no chance to leave a message or anything else.
Based on this, I'd still use the number, but I'd go in with concerns about whether it would be effective. If you can get someone on the phone, it seems like the system is set up to minimize wait times, but the lack of a guarantee that someone is there to help is off-putting. The automated system seems pointless, as it doesn't appear to do much to connect customers with a representative.
