Hello United Airlines Customer Service,*It's taken me some time to send this to you in writing. I was on flight UA**** BTW-EWR at *:** pm seat **A on August **th ****.*I went through security at the Burlington airport and was early for my flight. I used the bathrooms in the airport and waited for my flight to board an hour and ** minutes later.*I boarded the flight and planned to use the bathrooms once we were in the air. Once we were at altitude to use the facilities I got up to go and the door was locked and had the sign occupied on it. I thought this was strange since my seat was just beside the door and no one had gotten up as it was a small plane and all were visible. I sat back down just in case I had missed someone passing and waited *-** minutes at which time I rang for the attendant truly needing to use the bathroom by now. The attendant promptly arrived and asked what I needed and I told her I needed to use the bathroom badly.*She immediately told me the door was locked and broken and they could not open it. I was shocked because no one had made any announcement to use the bathrooms before we boarded due to malfunction and she already knew there was a problem when I asked for bathroom use. I told her it was an emergency to which she replied, "what do you want me to do?"*There was no helping me, no brainstorming solutions even though I let her know I was in an extremely challenging position and did not feel I could make it to landing. She again said she couldn't help me at all.**I told her I needed a cup and that she needed to help or I was going to have an accident and again she responded that wasn't available.*I had to go the next ** minutes without facilities and having extreme anxiety that I couldn't hold my bladder in public and denied restroom access.**I had to stay in my seat until every last person was off the plane and had to release my bladder on the floor of the plane before I could leave as I could not get to the bus, or make it all the way to the building terminal.*This was absolutely humiliating and painful!!!!!! I was absolutely shocked at the way the attendant was unhelpful and left me there to deal with a problem she knew was in effect but let no one know about to take care of themselves before the flight.**I am so disappointed in the way that you have taken money for flights and had no facilities available even for a short flight. I had a connecting flight to San Diego from Newark and felt extremely nervous the whole way even though I knew I had a bathroom to use!*It was humiliating to not be able to get off the plane and walk because I was denied facilities on your plane!!! It feels awful to sit in fear of public embarrassment for a prolonged period of time without help. It feels hopeless, disempowering, angering and terror filled.*It might sound strange but we are each trained psychologically to take care of our biological needs in private and with care. When this is not available and we are in public it goes against everything in our conscious training since childhood.**This was truly an awful experience.*I truly hope that have some kind of response to this level of experience with your company mishandling your aircraft and care of your customers.*Sincerely,*Karen Winter
