We (*) passengers (Larry Cox, Howard Felton and Lueree Felton) were booked to fly from Cincinnati, OH to Myrtle Beach, SC on *********-*********. The flight to Myrtle Beach was canceled through another airline where we received a full refund, the resort canceled our reservations all due to Hurricane Florence. The return flight on ******* on United was not canceled however we live in Cincinnati, OH and were not able to fly down to return. I was asked if we were canceling the flight due to the hurricane and I informed yes. I was told by Don at customer service for United Airlines that we could not be refunded because the flight was not canceled but due to the hurricane and our inability to get to Myrtle beach to fly back on the scheduled date that we could get the $*** credit (Each of us will have a $*** credit) to use up to a year from the date of the scheduled flight and he would place a note in the system under the confirmation number of this credit. I am trying to use my credit to fly in November **** and I am now told by one person that there is a $*** fee to use the $*** credit then told by another staff person on your customer service line that there is no credit in the system at all because the flight was a Basic flight. This is not what I was initially told by Don when I canceled the flight. We did not cancel the flight due to any issues we were having, we were not able to get into Myrtle Beach due to the hurricane. We are requesting a refund for the $*** or a credit up to a year from the date of the flight as Don stated we would have with no fee where we can at least get the $*** off of another flight through United with understanding that we would need to pay the difference if the flight is higher in cost. The confirmation number is: fj******Please advise and consider my request. Thank you in advance.
