We were flying to Manhattan to attend the play, Hamilton, and have dinner preceding the play, all to no avail. ... Our flight from IAH to EWR was delayed due to "mechanical issues" and departed IAH * hours later thereby forcing us to miss the evening performance of Hamilton on Broadway. Additionally our free ride was not able to pick us up so we used Uber. And not to forget the hotel wherein we arrived in Manhattan at **:**am Friday morning. What I would like is cash reimbursement for theater tickets in the amount of $***, Uber for $** and one night at the Sheraton Times Square for $***! I suspect that won't happen, so "goodwill gestures" of providing round trip airfare, hotel and transportation to NYC sounds about right in lieu of actual cash compensation.
This was particularly frustrating because United said other flights were possibly available, but none would get us to Manhattan on time. Then to complicate the issue, our two bags were on two different flights coming into ERW so we had to wait until both bags arrived and eventually made it to our hotel in Manhattan close to **:** AM Friday morning!
To receive flight vouchers greater than $*** each for two tickets to use at our convenience for the missed Hamilton play, hotel room in mid-town Manhattan and missed dinner reservations plus spending the entire day trying to get to the East Coast.
We moved to Houston * The Woodlands in **** and started traveling almost exclusively with United due to IAH being close by and fact Houston is a hub for United, that was the former Continental Airlines home base.
We've been in contact with United, but now they have stalled in resolving these issues.
