Mind my own business. ... I’m not certain if I have an issue, but all day I’ve been getting text messages from a phone number (***-***-****) which state “**** is you Uber code.” This started at **:**am PST and since then, I’ve received ** of them.*I am not using the Uber app (in fact I tried deleting it as a possible fix but that didn’t help) and I’m concerned that my account is compromised. I haven’t been able to reach anyone and the number the texts are coming from doesn’t receive incoming calls.
Not only are the frequent pings from Uber extremely annoying, but now I’ve wasted hours of my time trying to resolve this and I’m seriously stressed out about the status of my account.
I need someone to contact me and let me know what steps have been taken to protect me and my information asap.
Frankly, after this, I don’t want to be a customer any more. A company that can’t be bothered to interface directly with their customers isn’t a company with whom I want to have a relationship!
I found a possible resolution On the gethuman.com site* another person who had this issue replied “STOP” to the texts. I tried this and got an auto-response saying that Uber SMS messages had been disabled. However, I received two new texts minutes after doing this. I’ve tried stopping the texts again, but even if this works, I don’t have any idea whether I’ve been charged for rides I didn’t order or take.
