When did a service contract become necessary when there is a warranty?

Help with my Sears issue
The issue in GetHuman704301's own words
I am trying to get some compensation for the loss of a refrigerator compressor that was supposed to work for ** years. ... The compressor has gone out on our Kenmore refrigerator after owning it for approximately ** months. We have been trying to get it fixed for * months with several repair calls. After the last service call we were told by the repairman that the new compressor he had put in was also not working and that he thought there was something fundamentally wrong with the system and that another new compressor wouldn't last very long either. This refrigerator had a ** year warranty on the compressor. Apparently they cannot fix the refrigerator so that the compressors will work so I feel that we should be compensated more than $*** they are offering. The refrigerator cost us $**** initially.
We have already been very patient with Sears in dealing with this issue for * months, and it looks if this issue could go on forever if we let it. It is time to be done with this issue.
They could make this right by reimbursing us at least half of what we paid for the refrigerator.
We have had Sears appliances for over ** years. We trusted them to be fair and stand behind their products.
We have called and talked to representatives already. They have offered to refund us what we paid in repair calls but nothing for the loss of an almost new refrigerator.
I have an issue with Sears too
