The issue in GetHuman-breezeka's own words
My partner Romana and I rented a car in Salerno this May from **th until **st. The rental booking was done months before the trip (********) and you have to state a time of pick up. When we got to Avis later than expected they had given our car away. No one tried to contact by phone or email to check that we were coming. We then had to take out another car and it cost us **.** euros extra per day. I was very disappointed in the Avis service. At the very least they should have contacted us and if we had to take another car they should have waived the extra amount because of their mistake.
