I am a contract grant writer for a nonprofit organization in Arkansas called Friendship Community Care (FCC). FCC provides a multitude of services across the state for adults and children with developmental disabilities. **Friendship Community Care would like to be able to provide a transportation service (like Lyft) to adults with developmental disabilities, allowing them to be more independent. They could use the transportation to get them to and from work daily, to the grocery store, doctor appointments, etc. **A program like this would require drivers who are specially trained to work with developmentally disabled individuals. Friendship Community Care has asked me to look into grant funding options for piloting this program in northwest Arkansas, and I wanted to see if Lyft might be interested in partnering with FCC on this project. I'm not asking Lyft to pay for it (although we would welcome that - ha!), but would Lyft consider:***Offering special training (provided by Friendship Community Care) to its northwest Arkansas drivers on transporting individuals with developmental disabilities?***Helping us recruit drivers in the area who would be willing to transport adults with disabilities (our own "pool" of drivers specifically for this purpose)?***Helping us think through the logistics of Friendship Community Care and Lyft partnering in this way?**I think this could be a win-win for both organizations (great publicity for both Lyft and FCC), northwest Arkansas (serving a need in the community), and the state as a whole (if the program is successful, it could be expanded statewide).**If Lyft is willing to be a partner, the grant funding I pursue will be money to offer rides to these individuals free of charge. If Lyft is not interested in partnering, Friendship has asked me to look into much larger funding opportunities, so that they can create their own Lyft-like service geared specifically to the developmentally disabled. **But, my thought is, why reinvent the wheel if they don't have to?**My phone * is ***-***-****.
