Went to Durham Lowes today to get a truckload of mulch. I drove my truck to the proper location for loading the mulch. After waiting a long period of time, with a dozen or more people waiting in line to check out, and there not being but one register open in the garden center, I finally made it to the open register. I told the Lowes employee I wanted ** bags of cypress mulch. She asked if I had anyone with me to load it ??? I told her, I thought you all supplied someone to load it. She then had a short conversation with a fellow employee who said he would load it for us. So, I pay with a check, get my receipt and she tells me to drive to the back for pick up and "they" would be around there to load it. I go to my truck and wait and wait and wait ... No one is showing up. My husband was with me and he couldn't stand the heat as he has COPD. We waited as long as we could, when nobody ever showed up, I took my receipt and walked back into the store. A young lady met me at the door, and said she was trying to find me to tell me they were totally out of the cypress mulch. I would have to get a refund. To begin with I wrote a check , so they couldn't give me a refund. I was told by one person I would get a refund. Another told me I would get a gift card in the amount of the charge of the mulch. Another was trying to find out why *** bags were showing in inventory and there was none on location. As it turned out, Lowes gave me an in store credit card. It was hot today, terribly miserable. I ended up leaving the store with NO mulch, and an in store credit card. I wasted my time , my gas , and my efforts all to come home with NO mulch.... Lowes was Short staffed!! They had only one lane open at check out in the garden area !! People were lined up all the way back to the inside doors trying to get checked out. I don't know when I have been more disappointed in Lowes. What has happened to Lowes? I think they're trying to save themselves money with the few employees they are working ...... and they are working those few too death !!! In the long run, they are not saving themselves anything. .. I have been a long time customer of Lowes because every thing about Lowes has always been "above average". NOT so Now !! I still don't know when and*or IF they are going to be getting any of the type mulch I need..... Guess I'll have to either keep checking, or go to the closest Home Depot. Lowes is going down, down, down, and I for one, wanted them to know ONE reason why ......... who knows what else is happening ??? I hope others are having better service than my husband and I have had this one day !!!
