The issue in GetHuman1964582's own words
Hi,**I have received two emails over the past couple of weeks from a person or people indicating they have the password for my Linkedin account. The first email I read, whereas the second I have not read. The first asked for money for not passing pornographic material under my name.**There were factual errors in that email. First, it claimed to have a video of me taken through my computer camera. My computer doesn't have a camera. Second, it said I have * contacts. I can't recall having more than one contact, and it is certainly not as many as * (that is, unless Linkedin has been "naughty", as it was when I created the account - see below).**The account was created of order *-* years ago. I received a request from Linkedin to link to a person I was helping with science. She subsequently indicated the request hadn't originated with her, suggesting that Linkedin may have been proactive in some way. The hacked password the nasty person or people have obtained is correct. It was a one-off, chosen as a "dig" (i.e. joke about the person I was helping).**Since she told me the request hadn't come from her, I have doggedly refused to login to Linkedin. I am happily "retired", as much as scientists are ever retired - i.e. science is my hobby and I have no need for professional associations that I don't already have.**There have been subsequent requests to link to me via Linkedin. Those I have handled by emailing directly the people I knew.**So, how to resolve the matter? Trivial from my perspective. Linkedin deletes my account. I presume there is a straightforward way to do so when for instance people die. I don't wish to login to my account, particularly as it may have been tampered with.**There is no loss to either Linkedin or me if the account is deleted. I am using the "GetHuman" route of contact as you may wish to speak to me to verify my identity.**Cheers, John Haines
