I have been sent a letter saying I need to fill in a self assessment tax return for **** to **** tax year. I was employed by a company called Heraeus for **** and got made redundant on **.**.**. I registered as a sole trader from **.**.** as I was opening a gardening business. I have had no business during the period of **.**.** to **.**.** due to the coronavirus and I am currently receiving new seekers job allowance. Do I have to submit a tax return?*I also spent £****.** on tools and equipment from Jan **** to **.**.** so can I claim any VAT back for this?*My name is Jason Ralph's*Tax Ref ***** *****
