I filed my **** taxes with H&R block and they were done incorrectly and now I have very little "help" from H&R Block to resolve the issue. I originally filed at the **** Johnston St, Lafayette, LA location with Ms. Jennifer. This year I received a cp**** from the IRS that was stating I owe $****. One issue is that I have a **** misc that was originally incorrectly labeled as non-employee compensation when it should have been marked as other income so that it did not appear as self employed compensation, which it was not. This issue was more of a misunderstanding with the IRS because they received the copy that was originally sent and the new copy that Jennifer told me to get from the company that I received the **** misc from. The bigger issue is that the IRS is stating that I was not eligible for education credits or the american opportunity credit after I was told by Jennifer that I was due to me being in school for the **** tax year. She said this even though my **** ****T showed no amount because I paid for the **** school year in ****. When I emailed her to get help resolving the issue, she was not available due to it not being tax season and she referred me to somebody else at H&R Block in the state I had moved to. When I went to get help there, I was told I would have to pay $** for her to send a letter to the IRS that may or may not resolve the issue. I refused and received help from somebody else at the Lafayette location. Although more helpful than the other * employees, I was only given advice on what I could do rather than having the issue resolved. I followed the advice and sent a letter to the IRS, which I did not receive any word back on until December **, saying I now owe $****. I paid over $*** to get my taxes done at H&R Block to ensure that there would be no issues, and if there were any issues, that I would have nothing to worry about because H&R Block would be there to resolve the issue. Instead, my taxes were done incorrectly, I am now told I owe $**** for a tax year in which I was a student and only made around $**,*** for the year, and am alone against the IRS. I want H&R Block to take responsibility for their errors and pay the penalty or at least handle the issue on my behalf with the IRS.
