Help with my General Motors (GM) issue
The issue in GetHuman-wagonerm's own words
did not have time to do the work myself-big mistake ... **** GMC Canyon issue. * months ago had a left rear axle seal leaking causing the brakes to stick (go figure). I did not have time to do the repair myself, so I took it to the dealer (Vestal GMC). Rear cover would have to be removed to pull axle shaft(s) to do the seal replacement. I thought while the tech was doing the work replace bearings and seals on both sides. This was probably overkill with only **,*** miles on truck. I work for Factory Motor Parts in Kernersville, N.C. and supplied the parts for the job. New Timken bearings, Timken seals, and Mobil * gear lube. On ********** went back to dealership to have truck examined because brakes were sticking. This time the right rear was leaking. Was informed that because I supplied the parts there was no warranty on the work. I now have $***.** (* parts) in labor for installing * bearings** axle seals. Also the dealer said they replaced sensor (*********) while doing the work. This is for the antilock brakes, was not having an issue with this function (no codes), so maybe the tech broke it while changing the seal. Talked to the service department with no luck( Jeff Huffman), he told me it was GM policy to not warranty work done with parts brought in by customer(s). I deliver parts to them daily from the store I work at, so the parts are quality. A learning experience I won't forget. All I was trying to do by supplying the parts was speed the process of getting my truck back. Future work will be done somewhere else. Thinking about buying a new truck, the new Ford F*** is looking pretty good. Telephone * ***-***-**** if you want additional information. Thanks!
