The issue in GetHuman794047's own words
My name is J.D. Meyer and my Facebook account has been hacked and taken over by another person and every measure I’ve taken thru the Help Center has been unsuccessful. Part (ok most) of the problem is that my account security was lacking and I foolishly left myself vulnerable to this type of attack. So here’s the story.*I’ve been a user of Facebook since the early years back when it was just for college students. The email I used to access the account, before everything went primarily mobile, was my old hotmail account, *****@***.com. I ultimately got away from using that email account because it got over run with spam, junk mail, phish, etc...all the bad stuff. Just up and quit using the email account, but never actually closed it. I then began using a different email as the primary email for my facebook, which was *****@***.com. The mobile linked to my account was ***-***-****. I say “was” because the hacker removed the number from the account, along with changing the name. So with all that said, apparently my old flyin*hawaiian** email address was still linked to my FB account as like a backup or account recovery email (my negligence). So with all that said, here’s what happened recently and how my account was ultimately hacked. On June *th at *:**am central time, I received an email from FB in my jmeyer****@hotmail account with the subject line “****** is your Facebook account recovery code”, with the body of the email stating FB received a request to reset my FB password. I was asleep at the time and did not make the request. At *:**am received a second email from FB stating the password was reset using the email address *****@***.com, which I myself hadn’t accessed personally in probably *-* years. Facebook is pretty much the only thing at this point that still had an association with that email (unfortunately). The device, IP address, and estimated location in the email clearly depicted to me that someone who had control of my old email, has now hacked into my FB account all while I was still asleep. At *:**am, I received a third email from FB, subject line “Someone may have accessed your account”. When I received this third email, I was no longer being addressed by my name, J.D., but rather something in Arabic that I have no idea what it says. By the time I woke up hours later and saw all that had happened, it was too late. I went thru all the Help Center resources to try and gain access back, but it was all to no avail. I sent in a picture of my driver’s license to confirm my identity, but apparently did no good because the hacker likely changed all this information. I had FB email me back to my jmeyer****@gmail account, but the responses were always the same “We reviewed your report, but it looks like things have already been sorted out with your account”. This was far from the truth. I’ve tried to regain access to my flyin*hawaiian** account, but I hadn’t used the account in so long, so all those attempts failed with Microsoft. A hacker has control of both this account, and is controlling my FB with it as well, and I’m completely hopeless at this point. It’s unnerving knowing what all is being done with my personal information Please Help!**Thank you,*J.D. Meyer
