Dear Customer Services,**I made a booking with Hotel Palm Beach from *th - **th July for * rooms * adults which was confirmed by yourselves.**This happened to be a "Pay at Hotel" which is fine but I then got an email from the hotel asking for *** Euro per room to secure the booking as it is a group of over *. This is not the case it is a party of * (not over).* This is to cover any damage etc and would be returned at the end of our stay should there be no damage. I, or my colleagues, have never encountered this at any hotel ever and we are all international travellers.* I might also point out that we are all in our **'s and wonder what type of damage we would be expected to or likely to commit ?***I have emailed the hotel pointing out the above and asking if they will still honour the booking without said "deposit" but I'm still awaiting a reply.* I think the charge is appalling and ask if you can confirm this booking or will I have to take out business elsewhere ?**I hope you are able to resolve this for me.**I look forward to a speedy reply so that if need be I* can get on and cancel the reservation and re-book elsewhere.**Kind regards**Helena Rodger

I contacted the hotel but got no reply. I then contacted booking.com. I wasn’t happy with the outcome so I cancelled my booking with the hotel and took my business elsewhere.
