I have been a loyal customer of Best Buy for years. Yesterday I tried to replace a smart bulb that would not work at the Conyers Georgia store. We purchase a double pack several weeks ago and one of the bulbs was defected and would no program. One of the bulbs, the first one we programmed worked fine so we left it in the light and took the one back that was defected expecting it to be replaced. When we tried to exchange the associate informed us we had to bring bithe bulbs back. I tried to explain we didn’t live in Conyers and would have to go home to get the bulb. She said ok. At this time I ask to see a manager and wa told the manager was already gone for the day. I then ask who was in charge and an associate by the name of Tim came up. I’ve been in retail management for over ** years first for one of the largest retailers in the world and currently in business for myself after retiring. I’ve alway been instructed and trained to talk face to face in front of an upset customer. Instead he never speaks and goes directly behind the counter and ask the associate what was wrong. She told him and said with a BIG smirk on his face they all I can do you’ll have to go get the other bulb. By this time I was very upset and mad (mostly because of the smirk and him laughing in my face) because I was upset. He said you can contact the manufacturer but I’m not doing anything. He continued to laugh and thought the situation was funny. At that point I ask for a corporate number and he stated looking for it. When I stated calling my wife had walked back and got the only pack of bulbs left on the shelf and ask him why we couldn’t just take one of these? He said (after I was calling) you didn’t ask for that you wanted a refund! I told him you didn’t listen that is all we ask for was a replacement. He said no you didn’t. I said I guess I’m a lier too. He starts laughing told me I was causing a scene! Know retail as I do, ive never written a complaint but this is the first time I’ve ever been laughed at and smirked at by any associate. At one point I told him to just cut up my Best Buy credit card he said ok! I said so you don’t mind loosing a good customer and he laughed. My purchase was only $**.** and he wanted to loose me over actually half that amount in that I only wanted one bulb replaced. According to my receipt my customer service pin is **** *** **** ******. Ive been shopping with Best Buy for years and lived it until dealing with Tim. Thank you for listening to me. It’s terrible how one associate can cause someone’s to change their opinion about a business!
