It appears that I have been tricked more than twice by Bank of America --regarding their March **** new Covid deferral policies--advertised as, "Bank of America Announces Additional Support for Consumer and Small Business Clients Experiencing Hardship From the Impact of the Corona virus" on their "Newsroom" website( https:**newsroom.bankofamerica.com*press-releases*consumer-banking*bank-america-announces-additional-support-consumer-and-small).** According to this "Newsroom" website, this applied to me in the following * categories:**. "Consumer and Small Business credit cards: clients can request to defer payments, refunds on late fees."**. "Consumer and Small Business deposit accounts: clients can request refunds including overdraft fees, non-sufficient funds fees, early withdrawal penalties for certificates of deposit, and monthly maintenance fees."**As a long time customer in good standing, their lack of integrity is stunning.**N.B. There are many wonderful people who work on the front lines at Bank of America. These are the bank's employees whom I admire, respect & hold in high esteem, with gratitude. They are the reason that I am still a customer.***. Credit Card deferral payment option. This feels sneaky & unclear the way that only the late fee is dropped, while interest charges still accrue if one does not pay by their old credit card payment deadline.**After being accepted for this program, I got slammed with extra charges, even though I had paid the full amount due before their new deferment deadline for my payment. On one occasion, I was at an ATM - the day before the payment was due. While initiating my transaction, I stopped. something felt off -like the ATM had been hacked. I found another ATM & the same thing happened, only this one had a note: out of paper* no receipts.**Turns out that Bank of America had instituted a surprise new policy of not requiring a password anymore for credit card payments. Yet, there was no information on the ATM screen or on the outside of the ATM regarding this policy change. This raised many red flags because surely this huge bank had more integrity. This situation also felt fraudulent & raised red flags because on * previous occasions, their ATMs had gobbled hundreds of dollars in cash for me—with no "out of paper “warnings & NO RECEIPT GIVEN--and none of the money refunded--ever. (Too bad for me. Their ATMs had eaten my money & when I asked for help, some of their local employees told me to go chase down the armored cars and ask if they had any money left over !) Stunning. They still owe me this money.**It appeared that my credit card payment in cash, could once again be headed directly to Bank of America's coffers without any proof of payment . In light of this past experience, I did exactly what I'd been instructed to do: I called the numbers on both ATMs immediately and asked for help. Neither of the lovely women at the bank's call centers had any answers. One even sent me on a wild goose chase across town to an ATM that doesn't exist --when there was one a few blocks away, due to incorrect information on her screen. Why were this bank's employees misinformed ? When I got home I called another **** and was informed of their new policy that was a well-kept secret from the ATM call centers.**This day had been my last opportunity to pay my credit card bill before the pre-deferment deadline. Since my area was still under lockdown, I was not able to return to the bank for a few days* although my usual deadline had passed, it was still early within my deferment payment parametres. They still charged me interest & late fees, even though they had promised not to since it was their incorrect information that had kept me from depositing the money ahead of time! They charged me as if I was not on the deferment program another time as well.**In summary, I have unnecessarily spent many grueling hours -on many days- on the phone with this bank's employees to persuade them to "refund" what the bank actually owed me. The price per hour was not worth it. What a waste.***. Deposit accounts -monthly maintenance fees. I have been asking for my deposit account's monthly maintenance fees to be refunded since the deferments, to no avail. Now armed with their website's information, I am once again off to request my money back. Why does it feel like I need to prepare for battle ? Why is it so hard to be treated fairly & get the corporation to honor their policies as promised?**Looking for a better way to live and bank, in this new world. Your ideas ? Your advice is appreciated.**Thank you.
