WHAT? CAN'T COMBINE ACCOUNTS? BAD POLICY

I was trying to combine * accounts. ... I have had an Amazon account for many years. During that time, I opened another account using a different email. I don't use or check the original email account very often. I would like to link or transfer my * accounts to combine them., but you won't let me. I had to go through many steps including, but not limited to: stopping the credit card on one account, cancelling my PRIME membership on that account and having to process opening PRIME on the other account. They are keeping the older account open for returns or refunds. Currently, when I had my computer reset to factory settings, I had to look through both accounts for purchases back to **** to download purchased software. I'm still not sure I have everything that I had before.

I spent about a half hour on the phone, only to be told that I can't combine them and had to go though several steps to finish
