Two orders placed for the same item (reportedly available) within * days were both cancelled w*o my knowledge and disappeared from my pending orders list though my credit card issuer had approved the charge both times. Why?????

I was trying to purchase an item that was supposedly available. ... Have placed an order twice within * days for the same item (Victoria Kay *** ct White Diamond and White Moonstone Evil Eye Necklace, price $***) and both times it was cancelled w*o my knowledge after showing initially as a pending order. After the first occurrence, I phoned my credit card issuer (Discover) and they couldn't explain the cancellation since they had approved the charge, which already appeared on my statement but was subsequently reversed.
This is extremely frustrating because my credit card issuer approved the charge both times and is unable to explain why the purchase was cancelled or by whom.
I'd like Amazon to explain the recurrent cancellations and ensure that I can purchase the item I want.
I have been an Amazon customer for over ** years and make frequent purchases.
Phoned my credit card issuer after the first cancellation. They were at a loss to explain it and advised me to contact Amazon or just reorder the item, since the charge had been already been reversed.
