To cancel your AT&T account you will need to call into support. But before, you should find another provider and check to see if your number is portable, meaning you can bring the phone number to another company.

A friend of mine wanted to pay my bill in full as a surprise to me. The total was around $***.**. My friend went online and saws the bill as, $*,***.**. So that is the amount he paid to AT&T. When my friend told me the amount he paid to the account, I knew it was not my paid account. We got a supervisor on the phone and explained the mixup that had happened to my account. My brother told supervisor that the money to his account was not his and did not belong to my account. My brother Craig, even did a verbal account telling the supervisor that the money was not his, but belonged to me, his sister. Supervisor assigned a Case number to my brother ‘s account. In actually, it belonged to me, the entire $****.**. I told them to use it towards my account and pass on any balance to me. But, they didn’t. AT *& T wanted to get the entire money from me and give it to Craig’s account so his account is now paid in full by some one he does not even know and I still have a balance of $*** with still no phone service which I have cancer and need my immediate phone service on. That was my friend’s intention but got the wrong phone service account. My brother even told the ATT supervisor was even told by my brother that it was not his account. Supervisor said the money would be transferred to my account and remaining funds would pay off my balance, but ATT saw how it could be given into another account and make more money this way. It was basically a typical corrupt way to do the handling and ATT wins and I lose my money and my phone service. You got $*** from me last month but gave it to my friend’s money to someone he does not know. Neither one knows the other. It is a win for you and a win for my lazy bother that loves gambling. I am a peaceful caring retired teacher who lost everything in the deal. Thanks to all of you!!! FTC or FAA needs to be told of my story and complaint. They need to be told of what was done to me where my story is in all of this
