I shopped at the Sedalia, MO, Aldi yesterday. The store was busy w customers but certainly not flooded. As I stepped into line a few minutes prior to * pm, I saw the posted sign indicating I should wait until an employee called me to a register. While looking over items in my cart, I faintly heard a male voice calling for the next customer. Both registers were being run by male employees and were at the tail end of finishing interactions. As I headed over, the nearest associate looked over at me and made eye contact, so I assumed it was his voice I’d heard. Pulling into that aisle, my medical aide (I’m on crutches and in a medical boot) continued walking to the furthest checkout lane. I called to him and he turned to see me just ready to start unloading the cart.*When I expressed I was ready to unload —I looked up at the associate in this lane (Caucasian male, light brown hair, facial hair, late **’s-**’s), the associate made a loud snarky remark to me, “He’s the one that called you over!” Through my medical mask I replied apologetically that I thought it was him. The associate just sat staring at me unwaveringly with what felt like death darts shooting my direction. The previous customer had finished checking out and as I looked to the male associate in the other lane his customer had also finished. Thoroughly embarrassed, as there was a line of customers waiting behind me and I’m certain they all heard the interaction, I put the items in hand back into my cart and went to the other lane. There was no indication verbally or via sign this worker was closing his checkout lane—I looked. He remained in his spot ringing purchases even after a third associate opened yet a third aisle (yes, the waitline had steadily increased to that point). It was frustrating and totally embarrassing!

GetHuman-jwmaryka did not yet indicate what ALDI Stores should do to make this right.
