How Do I Use Zoom?

Zoom is an American videoconferencing application that allows you to host one on one or team meetings. You can also use the app to host video webinars.

It can be quite challenging to use Zoom if you have never used it before. However, it would help if you were not anxious as it is easy to use the app.

The first step to using the Zoom app is to set up an account. Doing so involves a straightforward process.

All you have to do is launch your web browser and open the Zoom website. On the top right-hand corner of the homepage, you should see the Sign-Up tab.

Once you have signed up for an account, you can download the Zoom application. To download the Zoom app on PC, you only have to use the Zoom website.

If you want to use the application on your mobile device, you will have to download it from either the Google Play Store or Apple Store, depending on your device.

Once you have installed the application on your computer or mobile device, you can begin using it.

How to Set Up a Zoom Meeting

One thing you will have to learn is how to set up a Zoom meeting. The process of setting up a Zoom meeting on your computer is as follows:

  1. Launch your Zoom application.
  2. Hover your mouse pointer over the 'Host a Meeting,' and you will be presented with several options, namely 'With Video On,' 'With Video Off,' and 'Screen Share Only.'
  3. You will be presented with meeting settings that you can edit as you please. They will include the meeting topic, password, and invitation URL, among others.

Once you have edited the meeting settings, you can proceed to add the participants to your meeting. The process of adding participants to your meeting is as follows:

  1. Once you have set up a meeting, go to the new meeting screen.
  2. Click the ‘Invite' button located in the toolbar at the bottom of the page.
  3. You will have the option to either 'Copy URL' or 'Copy invitation,' which you can send to the meeting participants via text, email, or instant messaging.

Joining a Zoom Meeting

If you are not the one hosting the meeting, you can be invited to one. If so, you will have to know how to join a Zoom meeting.

The process of joining a Zoom meeting involves the following steps:

  1. Open the Zoom app and click the ‘Join' icon.
  2. Copy and paste the meeting ID in the appropriate box.
  3. Add your display name and then click the ‘Join' button.

Once you do, you can easily communicate with other meeting attendees in both audio and video.

Scheduling a Zoom Meeting

Zoom has a meeting scheduling feature that spares you the trouble of having to remember meetings or appointments. To schedule a meeting, you will have to set a date & time, meeting ID, and a meeting password, among others.

The process of scheduling a Zoom meeting involves the following steps:

  1. Launch the Zoom app.
  2. Click the blue schedule icon.
  3. In the subsequent page, enter the meeting details. Setting a password is vital to avoid unwanted guests in your meeting. You can also choose whether to activate video for yourself and the participants. Moreover, you can choose to use the phone's audio, the computer's or both.
  4. Confirm the meeting details and when satisfied, click the ‘Schedule button' to the bottom right of the screen.

If you have issues using any of Zoom's features, you should not hesitate to contact Zoom customer service immediately.
