Steps to Dispute a Charge From Thumbtack

Things may not always go as planned, and on Thumbtack, some situations may cause you to request a refund. An instance would be if you have an issue with the phone number provided by a customer. You can also request a refund if you receive a lead for an identical job from the same customer within one week. Additionally, you can request a refund if a customer changes the job location or if the client contacts you about a job that differs from the original lead.

Whatever the reason, don’t waste time because you must dispute your charge on Thumbtack within 30 days to qualify for a refund. If you face issues and want to dispute a charge on Thumbtack, these steps can help you.

1. Check Out Thumbtack’s Refund Policy

Before you dispute a charge, you must investigate whether the lead qualifies for a refund. Thumbtack has a well-laid-out refund policy that clearly outlines what qualifies for a refund. Some situations can be refunded automatically, but others, depending on your case, must meet these requirements to qualify:

  • If a client you met through your leads page replies “no”
  • If a lead doesn’t meet Thumbtack’s Terms of Use
  • If a job is scheduled outside your calendar availability

2. Open the Thumbtack Pro App

Once you ascertain that your lead qualifies for a charge dispute, open your Thumbtack app and log into your account. Navigate to the main menu and click on the profile icon. Clicking your profile opens up various options that relate to your account. From the alternatives, tap the gear icon on the top right.

3. Select Payments

Disputing a charge results in a chargeback relating to your payments. The payments tab lets you modify your payment settings and review your charges history. Select the payments tab, and on the new options, tap “Your Charges.” This option opens up a new page that contains your charges history, including the dates and amounts involved.

4. Tap Request a Refund

Within the charges page, navigate to the request a refund option above the payment history. Selecting this tab opens up a drop-down menu from where you must choose the payment period. Once you identify the period associated with your lead, you can choose from the leads within that period.

5. Choose Your Lead

Selecting the lead period makes it easier for you to find your lead, and after locating it, you must choose your reason for disputing the charge. Since you already know what qualifies your lead for a refund, select the most appropriate reason and proceed. The next prompt will require you to fill in more details related to the issue at hand for it to be handled appropriately. Depending on the details of your case, it can take up to two business days to process your refund. Feel free to contact Thumbtack’s customer support team with any queries.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Thumbtack Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
