How do I delete my account on Thumbtack?

Deactivating a Customer Account

Account deactivation at Thumbtack is permanent. This means you won't be able to recover the reviews you've written or messages with pros you've worked with. You can still reactivate your account in the future, but you lose access to previous data.

If you still want to deactivate your customer account with Thumbtack, follow the steps below.

Desktop:

  1. Go to Thumbtack and log in to your account.
  2. Hit your profile photo and tap Settings.
  3. Click Account, then Deactivate Account.
  4. Provide a reason why you're deactivating your customer account with Thumbtack.
  5. Click Continue and confirm that you want to deactivate.
  6. Click Deactivate Account.

App:

  1. Go to the main menu and tap You found at the bottom.
  2. Select Account, then hit Deactivate Account.
  3. Confirm you want to deactivate.

Deactivating a Thumbtack Pro Account

If you're a pro user, deactivating your Thumbtack account also means losing access to projects you've completed, profile information and reviews you've received from past clients. You won't be able to recover these even after reactivating your account.

Before deactivating your account, check your account balance first and use it before account deactivation because Thumbtack doesn't give you the option to refund the account balance. You may want to also unsubscribe from notifications if you don't want to receive text messages and emails from Thumbtack.

It's also recommended to consider other options before deactivating your pro account. You can hide your business so new customers can't find or contact you. Pro users can hide their account for up to 30 days and extend it once the 30 days are up.

If you just want to take a temporary break, why not turn off targeting first to stop getting direct leads? You also won't be charged once targeting is off.

Another option is to remove your services. Your account will still be active, but you won't get leads for one service, multiple services or all of your services. Clients also won't find you on search results.

If you still want to deactivate your Thumbtack Pro account, follow the detailed steps below.

Desktop:

  1. Go to Thumbtack and log in to your account.
  2. Navigate to the top right and click on your profile photo.
  3. Click Settings, then Account.
  4. Click Deactivate account and provide a reason why you're leaving Thumbtack.
  5. Hit Continue and then confirm you want to deactivate your account.

App:

  1. Open the app and tap Profile.
  2. On the top right, select the gear icon and hit Account Details.
  3. Select Deactivate Account and provide a reason why.
  4. Tap Continue and confirm the account deactivation.
  5. Tap Deactivate.

You can reactivate your Thumbtack account in the future by filling out the reactivation form. Thumbtack will review your application and get back to you within three days. If you still don't hear from Thumbtack, it's advised to contact Customer Support

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Thumbtack Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
