How to Use Your Sam's Club Gift Card for a Purchase
When you've received a Sam's Club gift card, you can use it at Walmart or Sam's Club to purchase that item you've been wanting. Cards with a PIN can be used both online or in-store, but cards without a PIN can only be used in brick-and-mortar stores for purchases. Cards with a PIN can also be used via the mobile app.

Making a Purchase With a Sam's Club Gift Card
Check to see if your gift card has a PIN. If it does not have a PIN, it can only be used in Sam's Club and Walmart brick-and-mortar stores, not for online purchases at Sam's or Walmart's online stores. Additionally, only membership gift cards, cards designed specifically to gift someone a Sam's Club membership, can be used for member dues. Regular Sam's club gift cards cannot be used for membership fees.
There are three ways to use a Sam's Club gift card to make a purchase. Online, via the mobile app and in-store.
Online Purchases
Online purchases can only be made with a Sam's Club gift card with a PIN, and you can pick up your purchase at the nearest Sam's location, Walmart location or have the items shipped to your home. To use your card online, do the following:
- Open Sam's Club's website online and log into your account.
- Add items to your shopping cart. When finished, go to checkout.
- Under payment, select gift card.
- Enter the 16-digit card number and the four-digit PIN.
- Select save to secure this as your payment option.
- Click place order to complete the purchase.
If you have multiple gift cards, you can add them all at checkout and determine how much from each you wish to apply to the purchase.
Mobile App Purchases
To use your Sam's Club PIN gift card through the mobile app, follow the steps listed here.
- Open the Sam's Club app on your device and log into your account.
- Tap on "My Account" and select "My Credit and Gift Cards."
- Select the gift card link and add the gift card's 16-digit number and four-digit PIN to your saved payment methods.
- Confirm the selection to add the card as your payment method.
In-Store Use
Sam's Club gift cards, with and without a PIN, can also be used in any Sam's Club or Walmart brick-and-mortar store. Swipe the card at checkout to complete your purchase.
Membership Gift Card
If you have been given a Sam's Club membership gift card, this can be used to purchase your own Sam's membership, pay upcoming dues if you already are a member, upgrade to a higher level of membership with more perks, or add another authorized user to your existing account. If you are opening a new membership, you need to visit the nearest Sam's Club Membership Desk to open your account. For existing memberships, you can add the card online to complete the upgrade or pay fees.
