What's Covered by My Safeco Policy?

Safeco is part of Liberty Mutual Insurance, a Fortune 100 company. The company offers an array of insurance products, the most popular being its auto coverage and home coverage products. What makes Safeco policies different from most other insurance policies is that they're sold exclusively through independent agents. If you have a Safeco policy and cannot find the answers you are looking for, it's best to contact the agent who assisted you when you got the coverage.

This article sets out what's covered by Safeco's automobile and home insurance policies.

Auto Coverage

Safeco's standard auto coverage involves three parts.

Liability coverage. This section kicks in when the other person involved in a collision with your vehicle is injured and their property is damaged. Safeco covers most or all of the damages and expenses associated with liability. This includes legal costs, should you be sued for damages.

Medical payments. All accident-related medical expenses that fall within your policy limits are covered under this section. This section specifically covers anyone who was injured in an accident while in your vehicle, regardless of who is to blame.

Uninsured/underinsured motorists. If the accident was caused by someone else who has no insurance or minimal insurance, Safeco covers the damages associated with the collision.

Although the standard auto insurance has you covered for the most important considerations, you can add a few products which make life a lot easier if you have an accident:

  • Rental car reimbursement
  • New vehicle reimbursement
  • 24-hour roadside assistance

Home Coverage

There are three sections under a standard Safeco home insurance policy.

Personal property coverage. If your personal property (for example, furniture, jewelry, home appliances and similar items) is damaged or stolen and the event which caused the loss is a defined event, Safeco will replace or repair the items.

Personal liability coverage. if you accidentally injure someone on your property, or if they accidentally injure themselves on your property, Safeco covers the costs of paying a legal claim.

Dwelling. Your home itself is covered under this section. For example, if your roof is damaged by a hail storm, Safeco covers the repair costs.

These are only Safeco's standard options. Potential add-ons include:

  • Personal property replacement cost coverage
  • Valuable articles coverage
  • Equipment breakdown coverage
  • Extended dwelling coverage
  • Identity Recovery coverage
  • Guaranteed repair network

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Safeco Insurance Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
