Google Fi (sometimes known as Project Fi) cellphone service is a relatively new provider compared to most of the cellular market. As such, they have had an opportunity to more thoroughly study what customers look for in a cellular provider. You may be asking yourself how Google Fi measures up to the competition. Does Google Fi have the best customer satisfaction rating for cellphone service? You can reach customer service here, and you can read the review below to see what customers like and dislike about Google Fi.

What Customers Like

Data

Google Fi offers flexible data plans that can meet almost every need. In addition, it allows you to tailor your data usage from month to month between unlimited data or a data threshold. Google Fi charges a flat rate for a talk/text plan, then data is $10 per GB each month; however, Google Fi does have a bill protection feature guaranteeing you will never pay more than $70 a month for data usage. This is great for customers who have inconsistent usage from month to month.

International Usage

For casual travelers, Google Fi is a great option, giving customers unlimited text in approximately 200 Google Fi countries. Talk does carry an extra charge of 20 cents per minute in addition to your normal rate; however, data rates do not increase for international usage.

Price

Google Fi gets high marks among consumers for affordability. Family plans offer more savings, and adding lines is easy. Google Fi is also a no-contract plan which makes switching a snap if you aren't satisfied with your service or move out of the Google Fi coverage area.

Coverage

Google Fi partners with other industry networks, so coverage is reliable in most places.

What Customers Don't Like

Coverage and Devices

Even though coverage is reliable, if you don't have a Google Fi device, you are at the mercy of the network in your area rather than the Google Fi operating system. Google Fi doesn't have as many compatible devices to choose from if you bring your own phone to your new plan.

More About Data

Overall data costs are great for consumers who use very little data; however, for those who do a lot of streaming or gaming on devices, there are much cheaper options available through other companies. Also, Google Fi starts data throttling at around 15 GB, which can cause a noticeable drop in data speed if you use a lot of data.

Customer Service

Like all cellphone providers in the industry, Google Fi does not have a good reputation for excellent customer service; however, it is not rated any better or worse than competitors. The biggest complaint was it was often easier to look the answers up online than speak to a customer service representative.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is Google Fi has mixed reviews among consumers with ease of adding lines and price being the biggest pros and data caps and customer service being the biggest cons. Google Fi is a good option for recreational travelers but not as good an option for international business travelers.
