Ohio Edison, also known as First Energy, makes it possible for customers to report power outages in a variety of ways. Disabled customers have a system that allows them to report power outages as well. First Energy advises customers to report power outages, even if they feel their neighbors have already reported the outage. This allows the company to gauge the scope of the outage and take appropriate measures.

Call Ohio Edison

Ohio Edison has a toll-free number expressly for reporting outages. Customers can call the Outage Reporting Line and provide details regarding their power outage. If placing a phone call is a preferred method for a power customer, Ohio Edison makes it possible for customers to use this method.

Customers who would prefer to visit the Ohio Edison website and report the outage can do so via a laptop, mobile device, tablet, or PC. Simply visit the website and take the steps necessary to report your outage.

Text OUT to 544487 (LIGHTS)

Customers who want to report their outage with their mobile device can simply text the word "OUT" to 544487, (LIGHTS). This message alerts Ohio Edison regarding the power outage at your location.

Disabled Customers TRS

Disabled customers can use the Telecommunications Relay Service (TRS) by dialing 711 to report an outage. Like the other customer contact options, TRS is available 24/7.

Additional Information

Status updates can be received by texting STAT to 544487, viewing power outage maps, and logging into the website for status updates. These updates will give a restoration ETA, crew, and cause information. During a storm or other extreme weather conditions, customers may be able to check status updates by visiting the company's social media site.
