Before Closing/Deleting Your Account

Before you close and delete your Kraken account, there are some things you need to know and do. These include:

  1. You need to export all your trading and ledge history before you close your account. Once the account is closed, these items will no longer be available through Kraken.
  2. Your account balance should be zero before you can close your account. All pending transactions must have cleared.

Closing Your Account

To close your account, complete the steps outlined here:

  1. Open Kraken in your browser and log into your account.
  2. Select "Support Center" in the menu options.
  3. Click on "Contact Support" to start a help desk ticket.
  4. Choose "General/Other" as the reason for the help desk ticket.
  5. Click on "Close Account." Accounts are generally closed within 72 hours.
  6. Once the account is closed, follow up with an email to Kraken requesting account deletion. In the email include the following information:
    • Your full legal name (as shown on your government-issued identification card).
    • Email address associated with your account.
    • Date you requested account closure through the website.
    • Written request to permanently delete your account.
    • You have the option to disclose why you wish to delete your account.
    • Any additional information.
  7. Kraken will process your request and permanently delete your account within seven business days.
  8. All information associated with your account will be removed from the Kraken servers and will no longer be available.
  9. If you wish to return to Kraken, you will be required to open a new account. Your deleted account cannot be recovered.
