Before Closing/Deleting Your Account
Before you close and delete your Kraken account, there are some things you need to know and do. These include:
- You need to export all your trading and ledge history before you close your account. Once the account is closed, these items will no longer be available through Kraken.
- Your account balance should be zero before you can close your account. All pending transactions must have cleared.
Closing Your Account
To close your account, complete the steps outlined here:
- Open Kraken in your browser and log into your account.
- Select "Support Center" in the menu options.
- Click on "Contact Support" to start a help desk ticket.
- Choose "General/Other" as the reason for the help desk ticket.
- Click on "Close Account." Accounts are generally closed within 72 hours.
- Once the account is closed, follow up with an email to Kraken requesting account deletion. In the email include the following information:
- Your full legal name (as shown on your government-issued identification card).
- Email address associated with your account.
- Date you requested account closure through the website.
- Written request to permanently delete your account.
- You have the option to disclose why you wish to delete your account.
- Any additional information.
- Kraken will process your request and permanently delete your account within seven business days.
- All information associated with your account will be removed from the Kraken servers and will no longer be available.
- If you wish to return to Kraken, you will be required to open a new account. Your deleted account cannot be recovered.
