How Do I Change Wrong Information on an Imdb Page?

IMDb is the biggest database of movie and television information online. And, with so very much information about virtually every movie and show ever made, it's inevitable that some errors would creep in. If you've spotted an error on an IMDb page and you want to fix it, just keep reading. This article will teach you how.

IMDb's Editing Guidelines

IMDb has a number of rules about making changes to its information:

  • Don't just go off of your memory. If you spot a something you think is a mistake, check the actual credits to see whether or not you are correct before making any changes.
  • If there is no on-screen credit for a particular role but the actor is easy to identify, use the (uncredited) attribute.
  • Never change an IMDb credit that matches the one on-screen.
  • You can add a character if IMDb does not have it and the role is uncredited.
  • Do not add a nickname to a character's name.

Making an Edit

There are two way to make an edit on IMDb. You can scroll to the bottom of the screen and press the Edit Page button there. You'll be taken to a screen with a bunch of options for editing. Just select the area you want to change from the list and make the correction.

There are also Edit buttons next to some of the data on IMDb title and name pages. Clicking these buttons will allow you to go straight to the part of the correction form you need.

Contacting IMDb

You can contact IMDb to ask any questions you have or to report any problems you've found with the site. However, IMDb asks that you change any mistakes you find in the movie and show information yourself, using the procedure described above. Only report problems with the site's functionality. You can reach an IMDb customer service representative on the company's help forum. It has no customer service phone line.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Internet Movie Database (IMDB) Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
