There are many advantages to using the HSBC bill pay service, including:

  • You are in control of when your payments are made.
  • You can set up one-time or recurring payments for things such as rent or mortgage, utilities or other bills.
  • You can complete up to five one-time payments at a time.
  • You can set up a bill pay to anyone in the US, even if they don't bank online. For those without online banking, HSBC will send a paper check to the recipient's address.

What You Need to Send a Payment

The following information is needed to set up bill pay for a person:

  • The recipient's full name
  • Recipient's address
  • Bank account number for the payee (or request to send a paper check if you do not have their account number

To set up bill pay to a company, you need the following:

  • Name of the company
  • Company's address
  • Your account number with the company

Setting Up Bill Pay

Once the person or company has been added as a payee, you can set up bill pay by doing the following:

  1. Log into your online HSBC account.
  2. Select "Bill Payments" from the "Useful Links" bar.
  3. Choose the account your will be paying from.
  4. Select "Bill payments" option in the "To" section.
  5. Choose the payee from those you've added to your account, or add a new payee. You can select up to five payees at this step.
  6. Enter the amount or amounts of payments.
  7. Select one-time or recurring payments.
  8. Click "Continue."
  9. Add the "Delivery Date."
  10. Select "Withdraw on Date" and click "Continue."
  11. Review the information to ensure it is correct, and click "Confirm."

Once you've set up bill payments, you can log in and monitor your account to ensure the payments are being made as scheduled or to edit or modify your upcoming payments. Payments that are processing cannot be changed or deleted. For assistance with bill payments, contact HSBC customer support.
