Regardless of which banking service you use, eliminating unwanted bill payments can be a bit of a hassle, especially when it becomes urgent.

Fortunately, most banks make it quite easy. HSBC is no exception. Here's a rundown of the fairly simple steps you can take to delete an existing bill pay payee with your HSBC account.

HSBC makes its banking services available via both online banking portal and a mobile app for consumers.

The things you can do with both of these platforms include setting up new payee accounts, arranging payment schedules and setting up payments for multiple bills.

You can also use the desktop banking portal for your account to cancel and delete payees. Unfortunately, the mobile app doesn't offer this cancel and delete option at this time; though it does let you set up bill payments and schedule them.

In order to delete an existing bill payee through HSBC's Personal Internet Banking platform, follow the following steps:

Steps to Delete an Existing Bill Payee with HSBC

1. Log into HSBC Personal Internet Banking through your PC or laptop. If you haven't yet set this up, you can do so by visiting the bank's HSBC personal banking site and creating a new login profile. This will ask you do perform simple identity verification with your bank card and social security numbers.

2. Once you've logged into your personal banking through HSBC's browser portal, click on the tab for "My HSBC" at the top left of the page and from the further menu options, click "My Bill Payees".

3. Under My Bill Payees, find the payee you want to delete and click on the three dots to the right of their label or name. From these you can select "Delete".

4. Step 3 above is usually enough to get rid of a payee. However, if you have future payments scheduled with your payee, you'll need to first click on "Future dated Bill Payments" in your "My HSBC" menu and delete any scheduled payments you have for a payee you want to completely delete.

With the steps listed above, you can erase any payee in your HSBC banking details. If, however, you have any other questions about online banking or bill payments with your HSBC account, you can also contact the bank for detailed human customer support with one of their representatives.
