Family Mobile is a no contract cell service by Walmart. They offer unlimited talk and text plans as well as 4G LTE mobile data and phones.

All you have to do once you acquire a Family Mobile phone is to activate it. Once you activate your device, you can choose to put a PIN, password or pattern to lock and unlock your device.

If you forget the PIN for your device, you will effectively be locked out of your device. Good news is that there are active steps you can take to retrieve your PIN.

The following are some ways through which you can reset your Family Mobile PIN:

Through Your Google Account

If you previously set up a Google or Gmail account on the phone, you can use your account to unlock your device. However, your device needs to be connected to an internet connection for this approach to yield results.

The following are the steps that you will use to unlock your device using your Google account:

  1. Enter the wrong PIN on your device five times.
  2. Select ‘Forgot PIN' in the bottom right corner of your screen.
  3. Input your Google or Gmail account username and password and then click ‘Sign In.'
  4. You should then go to your device settings and change your PIN.

Through Android Device Manager

You can only use this method on mobile devices that have an enabled mobile device manager. If so, you can unlock your device via the following process:

  1. Launch your web browser on your computer or a different mobile device.
  2. Open visit: https://myaccount.google.com/find-your-phone.
  3. Sign in to your account using the Google login details for the account associated to your device.
  4. You will be presented with the Android Device Manager Interface.
  5. Your device should already be selected but if not, select the device you want to unlock which is your Family Mobile phone.
  6. Click ‘Lock.'
  7. In the subsequent pop-up window, input a temporary PIN.
  8. Click ‘Lock' again.
  9. If the procedure is successful, you should see a confirmation below the box with the tabs labeled ‘Ring', ‘Lock,' and ‘Erase.' Check the confirmation box.
  10. You should now see a password field on your phone in which you can enter the temporary PIN.

Perform a Hard Reset

If the above processes do not work, you can decide to perform a hard reset on your device. A hard reset is a viable solution if your phone is not responding to troubleshooting solutions to a device problem.

A hard reset will restore your device to its default settings. A hard reset will also delete all the data on your device so if there are any settings or information you want to keep; you should avoid it.

The hard reset process can take anywhere from a few seconds to a number of minutes.

The process of performing a hard data reset is as follows:

  1. Turn off your device.
  2. Press the Power button simultaneously with the Volume Up or Volume Down buttons.
  3. The Family Mobile logo should appear on the screen. When it does only release the Power button. If you see FTM (Field Test Mode) or FTD (Field Test Display) on the screen instead of the Android System Recovery Menu, you should proceed to Step 1 and alternate the Volume key combination for Step 2.
  4. Use the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons to scroll through the Android Recovery System menu.
  5. Highlight the ‘Wipe data/Factory reset,' option then press the Power key to select it.
  6. Highlight the ‘Yes - delete all user data,' option then press the Power key to choose it.
  7. Highlight "Reboot System Now," then press the Power key to select it. Your device should revert to default settings and you can put a new PIN.
