How Do I Delete My FTX Account?

Opening an FTX account is easy, and watching your funds grow can be exciting. There might be a time in the future, however, when you just want to move on. Many people want to protect their own security by deleting their crypto accounts, therefore preventing anyone else from gaining their financial details. How do you accomplish this?

Asking the Source

Unfortunately, a search on both FTX operated websites for how users can delete their own accounts turned up empty. This might change in the future but there might be a business reason for any delays. After all, what company wants to lose clients? Nevertheless, there is some common information available from similar cryptocurrency exchanges about how to achieve this task.

Taking the First Steps

If you want to delete your account, all exchanges agree that you must:

  1. Not have any pending transactions to or from your FTX account and
  2. Be at a zero balance.

It's recommended to check your transaction history for anything pending, if applicable. It's also important to note that once you delete your account, those financial records might be lost. To solve this, it's suggested you download any statements for your records. You can do this by logging into your account on a computer, navigating to your transaction history, and doing a Print Screen of the details. Most browsers, like Google Chrome, have this ability and will show you a document preview. Please reach out to FTX Customer Support here if you have any questions.

Another option for saving your transaction history is keeping all emails from FTX in a separate folder of your inbox.

Taking the Last Step

When you've verified your account is at a zero balance and all transactions are completed, you can now request to close your account. Sending an email from the same email address you opened the FTX account with is the best option. Please send it to FTX.US customer support here and use "Need to Close My FTX account as the subject line" and then provide your email address and user ID in the body of the email.

Please keep in mind that it may take a few days to hear back from them.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for FTX Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
