What Do I Do If I Was Overcharged for My Air Canada Flight?

Air Canada gives passengers several options they can use if they are seeking a refund. Depending on the terms of the ticket as well as the situation, some customers can seek a refund online, while others will need to contact Air Canada customer relations directly. However, some refunds requests will have to be reviewed and the review process can take up to eight weeks before you receive your refund. However, if you are unsure of which route to take, call customer relations directly for guidelines on how to proceed. Under some circumstances, a refund is automatic.

Air Canada travelers who have been overcharged for some service, fee, or fare have options when it comes to receiving a refund. Of course, the terms of the refund will be dependent on the situation and the guidelines for each situation. However, Air Canada does outline a process that passengers can follow to get a refund.

Call Customer Relations

If you are a passenger that has been charged for a service you never received or overcharged for some service, fee, or flight, your first step is to call customer relations. A customer relations representative will get the details of the situation and ask for any additional information needed to confirm the situation. Beyond speaking with customer relations, there are other options depending on the situation. Keep in mind, however, that the refund process may take up to eight weeks while its under review. However, this is in cases where a review is needed and the refund isn't automatic.

Used and Unused Fare

If you've been overcharged for travel fare that has already been used you can go online and use the ticket refund application form. You can use the same tool to check the status of your refund. If you need to refund unused fare it s best to seek a refund from the original ticket seller or purchase point. If you purchased a ticket from a travel agent return to the travel agency, explain the problem, and seek a refund.

If You Booked with AirCanada.com...

If you booked your flight online with Air Canada you can cancel and get your refund online. Canceling online will automatically initiate the refund process. However, keep in mind that some charges and fees associated with your ticket may not be refundable.

If You Booked Direct with an Air Canada Agent...

If you booked directly with an Air Canada agent, you will need to contact Air Canada directly. This process cant be completed online. You can begin the process of receiving a refund for airfare and an upgrade if applicable.

Non-Refundable Tickets

If you were overcharged for a non-refundable ticket you will need to contact customer relations to dispute your case. Your situation will be reviewed. The review process can take up to eight weeks before you receive a refund or an answer from Air Canada.
