I understand the challenges of the busy tax season and the stress it may cause to your employees. However, I must express my disappointment with the service my Dad and I received at your State Rd. Springfield office. I encountered several issues: - Our H & R Block Representative, Anne Fischer, appeared to lack knowledge of tax laws and basic filing information. - Despite being told on April 8th that our filing was electronically submitted, by June 26th I still hadn't received my tax refund and couldn't reach the State Rd. office for answers. - After speaking with Cathy Dinsmore from another office, I learned that the filing was never sent. She promised to do it herself. - Shortly after, Rebecca Lynn informed me that the filing couldn't go through due to an issue with the Identity Protection Pin provided during the initial process. The lack of communication and follow-up from Anne Fischer was disappointing. I believe H & R Block should have better procedures in place to ensure proper handling of customers' cases. I am requesting compensation for the inconvenience and the unresolved situation, totaling $[redacted].00. Thank you for addressing this matter. Sincerely, Sondra L. Forman

On April 1, [redacted], I submitted a tax return for my late daughter, Kayla E Smith, with SSN [redacted]-98-[redacted] at the [redacted] N Pearl St Bridgeton, NJ [redacted] location by Ann Trull. I was charged $[redacted] for the tax preparation. After receiving a letter from the IRS on May 15 indicating a missing form, I visited the HR Block office, but no one was available. I tried to reach the district manager at [redacted] but was put on hold indefinitely. I have since rectified the missing forms with the IRS. I am disappointed by the oversight and the significant amount paid for a flawed service. I trusted your company for tax assistance, assuming a professional would handle the necessary filings for a deceased taxpayer. I am seeking a refund for the incorrectly processed service, which has hindered settling my daughter's estate debts. Thank you for addressing this issue. - Melissa Sammartino

Hello, I recently discussed my Roth IRA situation with a Vanguard specialist. Upon learning that contributing $50 to my account on 07/24/18 while married and filing separately could result in over-contributions, I may need to amend my tax return by 10/[redacted] using forms [redacted]-R and [redacted]. After sending a W4 form on 07/21/18 to switch my tax status to "married, filing single rate" and receiving a paycheck on 07/31/18 under this status, I questioned whether the contribution made before this paycheck would impact my filing status. Wondering if the IRS considers the W4 form date or the paycheck date, I sought clarification to determine if amending my return is necessary. Despite not receiving a [redacted]-R form or additional tax notices from Vanguard besides the [redacted] form, I realized my case is complex and seek any guidance available. Thank you, - Jeevan

I attempted to reach the Lawton, Oklahoma office throughout last week to inquire about my tax return status. I paid $[redacted] on April 14th, hoping it would be completed accurately due to the complexity of my wife needing to use a tax ID number as a foreigner and recent marriage. Unfortunately, the work was erroneous by the tax preparer. While on vacation in Connecticut, visiting my family before departing to Korea, I had to go out of my way to correct the mistake at a local office. It's now been nearly 7 weeks without any updates. I've tried contacting the Lawton office, but my emails were disregarded. Given that I'm currently deployed in Korea, electronic communication is my primary means of contact. Can you please provide me with an update? Best regards, ASHDON R MARTIN

I submitted my tax return on July 15th and was informed it would take 5-10 days to receive my refund. However, when I contacted the Thomastown branch, I was notified that my return had not been processed at head office. Despite paying immediately, my return has yet to be lodged after two weeks with no communication. I was advised to wait until today for a resolution. If my return is not processed today, I will escalate the matter to the ombudsman. This will be my first and last time using H&R Block, as the service has been unsatisfactory, as evident from other customer complaints. The lack of a contact number for assistance is also frustrating, as relying on email responses is inconvenient.

Hello, I wanted to share an email I received from Roy Feng on January 3, [redacted]. I have not heard anything back regarding my tax submission and when I try to contact Roy, the email bounces back as non-existent. Can you please update me on the status of my tax submission? Thank you, Josh G.

Hello, I am Angela Holt, an Emerald Card holder for over 15 years. I do not use this account for taxes but as my regular checking account. Recently, after ordering pizza from Dominos, my transaction was declined even though I had enough funds. Despite checking my email, the app, and contacting card services, I was not informed of any freeze on my account. This issue occurred previously with Dominos, but I was unaware of any freeze at that time as well. Only after my credit card payments were declined, was I made aware of the freeze. I need letters faxed to the companies affected to restore my credit with them and a mailed letter for my records from your company.

I am a self-employed small business owner. Filing my taxes for the first year was a challenging process, even with the help of a tax professional I paid $[redacted] for. Despite the assistance, my taxes were filed late because of the difficulties I encountered in understanding everything. I sent my completed taxes from H&R Block to an IRS representative named Bruce, who discovered that the forms were incorrect. He provided me with the correct forms to fill out on my own. The lack of proper guidance and unhelpful communication from my tax professional at H&R Block led me to believe that they did not fulfill the services I paid for. I am requesting a full refund for the amount I paid in October [redacted] for the online filing of my [redacted] taxes through your company, as I feel that I did not receive any tangible benefits from this process.

I would like to know if the tax software can calculate the cost basis, gain, and loss on my rental property. I have been using the program since I purchased the property, entering expenses, rent, and costs all along. Now that I am planning to sell it, I checked my [redacted] return to simulate the sale for tax purposes. I expected the software to automatically calculate these figures for me when I sold the property. I also noticed an option for carryforward losses. I am curious if not selecting this box in previous years means the software did not carry forward my losses. I believe this feature increases the cost basis upon selling the rental property, even if it did not benefit me annually due to high income. Could you please provide some guidance on these issues?

I was charged $79.99 for a Tax Professional service to oversee my taxes and ensure they were paid on time. Unfortunately, my taxes were paid late, resulting in an additional $90.71 cost. Despite assurances from the Tax Professional, they closed after tax season and did not respond to my messages. Customer service was unable to help me, leading me to contact H&R Block Folsom branch for confirmation. I would appreciate a refund of $[redacted].70 for both amounts. Please advise on the necessary steps to facilitate this. - JN Transaction #[redacted][redacted]73

Hello, I have been a loyal customer of H&R Block for years, relying on them each tax season. During my visit on April 29th, I discovered that my [redacted] income tax filing, which I completed and paid for in full, was never processed and sent. This mistake led to interest charges of $86.20 and a penalty of $41.65. Although the agent helped send the overdue filing in [redacted], I was instructed to resolve the [redacted] taxes at the office where I initially filed them, requiring a 40-minute drive each way from my home. Despite multiple visits and conflicting instructions from the office on what documents I needed from the CRA, I have faced inconvenience and wasted time. I believe this situation contradicts the hassle-free experience H&R Block promises. I am a busy professional often working out of town for extended periods, making it challenging to keep revisiting the office. I am requesting a refund for the penalty and interest charges, as well as compensation for the time and effort spent rectifying your error. I have all necessary documentation to support my claim. Looking forward to resolving this matter amicably to continue relying on your services in the future. Best regards, Amanda

I received a CP2000 notice regarding taxes on funds from the estate after my dad passed away. Initially, I believed I was only responsible for taxes on profits from sales, but since I didn't sell anything, I didn't see an issue. Upon receipt of the notice, I reached out to the estate executor for clarification. I inquired about the tax audit for the Putnam Investors fund and whether my tax liability was for the "difference" between the amounts mentioned in the paperwork and the check received. The executor explained that no taxes were paid by the estate, and the tax basis was set after my dad's passing. He confirmed that I was correct in understanding my tax liability to be for the difference in the amounts mentioned. Additionally, he highlighted the complexity of taxes on gains based on short-term vs. long-term gains, as well as reported vs. unreported gains.

I need to apply for financial aid for my upcoming term at Mount Hood Community College in Oregon. However, I am having trouble accessing my tax information on your online platform. For the past two days, I have been unable to log in and reset my password because I don't remember the answer to the secret question about where I lived during 6th grade. Despite attempting the verification process using my personal information, social security number, and birthdate, the system keeps locking me out. My main goal is to obtain the necessary information for college. I would greatly appreciate if you could either reset my password and email it to the address on file or reach out to me directly to assist with this issue. Thank you for your help. Caspian O.

I am Cody Rose. I filed my taxes in February at the local office and spoke to a customer service representative. I mentioned that I had set aside money from each paycheck for taxes, but he only gave me a partial amount, not considering the extra funds I had saved. I explained my financial situation and the necessity of the remaining money for bills and a car down payment. It seems like he might have misunderstood my need for the full amount upfront. If there is a possibility to receive the estimated $[redacted]-$[redacted] at a later appointment, I would appreciate it. Thank you, H&R Block. For contact, you can reach me at [redacted] or inquire via phone by asking for me.

My husband and I filed our [redacted] taxes using H&R Block's online services. Upon reaching the state taxes section, we were informed about Portland's annual "Portland Arts Tax" of $35 per person. Opting to include it in our state taxes through H&R Block’s payment processing, we completed the necessary steps. Despite our confirmation on the tax return, we recently received a notice from Portland stating non-reception of our payment, leading to an overdue fee. Seeking clarification on why the payment was not processed by H&R Block and requesting assistance to resolve this matter as we believe the late fee should not be our responsibility. I can provide additional documentation if required. Thank you for your help.

I am struggling with correctly filing my tax documentation. I am a US citizen currently residing in South Korea. Despite trying three times, I am facing issues inputting my foreign earned income correctly. I see it reflected on the [redacted]-EZ form lines 17 and 18, but it is not showing up on the AGI line of my [redacted] form. In my most recent tax year, I only had foreign earned income and no income from the US. I wonder if the information on the [redacted]-EZ form with "0" on the [redacted] AGI line is sufficient for accurately reporting my total income. The system automatically inputs "0" on the AGI line, and I cannot modify it. Moreover, I have tried to make corrections three times, but I received confirmation only for the first amendment from the IRS. Does this indicate that my subsequent attempts were not transmitted to the IRS?

I had an appointment scheduled for today at 10 a.m. with a confirmation number. Upon arrival, I discovered no one was present. After calling, I was informed that they had no record of my appointment. Despite having an email with a confirmation number, they claimed they couldn't locate it. I had even received the confirmation at the same email address they couldn't find in their system. I made the effort to take time off work to attend the Maplewood office as directed, only to be told they operate by appointment only and had no record of my scheduled visit with Stacy Hallas at 10 a.m. today. I am eager for this matter to be resolved promptly with an appointment available at the Maplewood office today. This mix-up was on their end, and I had adjusted my work schedule accordingly to accommodate it. Why am I unable to gain entry today?

Hello! My husband and I file taxes jointly. We have a minor child together. As of January 19, [redacted], we are separated. He has not lived in my home with our son since that date. I am disabled since [redacted], receiving SSD and SSD child income also. My son receives $90 in cash weekly from his father, which is a verbal agreement still in place, since he lost his job in June this year. (No divorce or child support agreement is in effect yet.) My concern is how to file the [redacted] taxes next year, as my estranged husband, who made $16.50/hr when he was working, seems eager to claim our son as a dependent for the "child tax credit" on his tax return. I am the sole caretaker of our son, renting the house at a slightly reduced rate (my adult son is landlord), supplying almost all of his needs, for the entire year. I am paying all of the expenses myself, except for the $90 in weekly grocery money he gives our 8-year-old son, weekly. (He is behind for 4 weeks of payments, which I doubt we will receive.) If I weren't struggling, I would have filed for divorce months ago due to the serious nature of the situation. My son is special needs, recently had a surgery, and correct timing for part-time work for me will improve our lives. In your opinion, what would be the best way to approach the [redacted] tax season? Your advice and timing would be greatly appreciated, as this is for the best interest of our child. However, if there is going to be excessive drama, I'd rather avoid it altogether. Thank you, Pennsylvania, USA

I encountered connection issues while using the [redacted] H&R Block Deluxe software. The software was unable to download the California state program due to server connection failures. Despite waiting for several hours, the problem persisted. I aim to complete my [redacted] taxes to import the data into the [redacted] Deluxe version. The error message received within the Deluxe software reads as follows: "SERVER TIMEOUT MESSAGE Unable to Connect We're having trouble making a connection between your software and our server. Make sure your computer is connected to the internet. If the problem persists, it might be due to your security and/or proxy settings. Note that at the end of the tax season, our server might be temporarily down for maintenance. System message: Timed Out"
