What are the hours and when should I call?

OpenTable operates the call center for this 800-673-6822 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Monday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 319 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).

Automatically call when they open

When you use our free AI-powered phone to call and talk, wait on hold, or navigate for you, it will automatically wait until the OpenTable call center opens before trying to call. It will ask your permission before it places the call, so you can also further delay that scheduled call until you are ready. But that means you can "set it and forget it" ahead of time.
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this OpenTable phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like OpenTable staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call OpenTable is Sunday. The most busy day to call is Thursday, which averages 81% more phone calls by comparison. Again, this is based on a sample of 319 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

But if you use our free call and talk for me or wait on hold for me service, you don't really need to worry about average wait times.

The best time to call OpenTable

In summation, the best day to call OpenTable is Monday.

Calling this OpenTable Customer Number

Feb 6, 2024

Calling OpenTable is ineffective because the company does not offer any kind of phone service for diners. OpenTable might offer phone service for restaurants, but when it comes to diners, you're only able to contact OpenTable via the chat function online.

When you call this number, you're asked if you're calling for technical support, billing or something else. If you say that you're calling for technical support, as I did, you're then asked if you're a restaurant owner or a restaurant customer. I opted for the restaurant customer, and was told that all support had been moved over to OpenTable's online chat function.

Instead of getting to speak with someone over the phone, I could instead speak with them through the chat function of the site. I could either get a link to chat sent over to my current phone number, or, if I wasn't on a cell phone, I could request that the link get sent to another phone number.

I chose to have the link sent to my cell phone, which quickly received the message with a viable link to OpenTable's website. From the link, I could either visit the OpenTable support site or set up a live chat with a representative. As neither of these options were a phone support choice, I opted not to use either one. As soon as I received the link, the automated system hung up to end the call.

Unlike with some phone numbers, refusing to give an answer to the automated system isn't a workaround. If you choose to remain silent when the system asks you to provide the reason for your call, the system will tell you that your call cannot be transferred and will automatically hang up. Calling after normal business hours yields the same result.

On the plus side, giving customers an easy way to get the link sent over to a different phone number means that anyone can use this number to get a link to the support site. If someone doesn't have easy access to the internet, using this trick can help them get connected right away and address their concerns. On the other, not giving customers the ability to speak with someone over the phone can limit their ability to get help. The average OpenTable customer is likely fine with getting help via an internet chat, but making it someone's only option does freeze out a percentage of potential customers.

Based off this, I would only use this number if I needed a way to get to the internet chat support site quickly. Otherwise, there's no point to calling, as you won't get anyone on the phone.
