If you are actually trying to change your name in the Uber Rider App instead of the Uber Partner App, then just go to Settings, tap the bar that has your name and other personal information in it, and enter your new name in the space provided. Then tap the Save button. Check your texts for a one time password from Uber for verification purposes and enter it in the space provided.Uber will not allow you to have two different names on file with them, so if you have both a driver and a rider account and change the name in one of them, then your name will automatically be changed in the other one as well.If you have both driver and rider accounts then you cannot change your name through the Uber Rider App, you must use the Partner App instead.Your new name cannot have any numbers, special characters, or inappropriate words as a part of it.The name change process for Uber drivers can be lengthy. Because the process must be approved and completed by the admins, it could take weeks before it goes through.

You cannot complete the name change on your own in the Uber Partner App. The administrators must be the ones to actually make the name change. Things are arranged this way as a security procedure, so they know who is really driving for the company.
They will provide you with further instructions, if any.
Once they have finished their verification process, and determined that you are really still you, then they will go ahead and change your name in the Uber Partner App for you.
