What is the difference between a Snap and a Story on Snapchat?

Asked 2 years ago
A Snap and a Story on Snapchat serve different purposes and have distinct characteristics. A Snap is typically a photo or video that a user sends directly to one or more friends. Snaps can include various creative elements like text, filters, or stickers, and they are meant for private sharing. Once the recipient views the Snap, it is usually deleted after a set period, which is often a few seconds. In contrast, a Story is a collection of Snaps that a user can share with all their friends or a selected audience. Stories remain visible for twenty-four hours, allowing others to view them multiple times during that period. Users can create a Story by adding multiple Snaps together, creating a narrative or showcasing moments throughout the day. The key difference lies in privacy and duration; while Snaps are private and temporary, Stories are public for a limited time and designed for broader sharing.
