Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security that can go a long way in protecting your account. With Crypto trading becoming more and more popular, it's essential to take extra security steps to protect your account. These accounts have become a soft target for many hackers in recent years. Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security that can go a long way in protecting your account. With two-factor authorization, even if a hacker manages to steal your password, they won't be able to login into your account unless they also have access to your second factor. If you are not using two-factor authorization on your Kraken account, we highly recommend you set it up as soon as possible.

Use the Kraken Website

The Kraken website is more like a toolkit where you can buy, sell, margin trade, and short sell. It also allows you to set up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA). Here are the steps you should follow:

  1. To get started, log in to your account and go to the Security tab under your profile settings.

  2. Then click on the "Enable Two-Factor Authentication" button.

  3. A pop-up window will appear asking you to select your preferred 2FA method. You can choose between Google Authenticator and YubiKey. If you don't have either of these, you can download the Google Authenticator app on your smartphone.

  4. Once you've selected your preferred method, follow the instructions on the screen to set up 2FA.

That's it! You've now successfully enabled two-factor authentication on your Kraken account.

Use the Kraken App

If you're using the Kraken app, setting up two-factor authentication is different. Here's what you need to do:

  1. Open the app and log in to your account.

  2. Tap on the "Security" tab.

  3. Then tap on the "Enable Two-Factor Authentication" button.

  4. You will see a pop-up window with a QR code. Using your Authenticator app, scan the QR code.

  5. Once the QR code has been scanned, you will be asked to enter the 6-digit code that is generated by the app.

  6. Enter the code and tap on the "Enable Two-Factor Authentication" button.

Use a Third-Party App

If you don't want to use the Kraken website or app to set up 2FA, you can also use a third-party app like Authy or Google Authenticator. Setting up two-factor authorization is not any different from the Kraken app. Simply install the app on your smartphone, add your Kraken account, and follow the instructions.

However, we do not recommend using a third-party app as your only 2FA method. If you lose or damage your phone, you will not be able to log in to your account unless you have a backup of the codes. You can also call the Kraken customer support and ask about some of the best 2FA apps you can use since not all apps are created equal.

Why Enable 2FA?

Two-factor authentication is an extra layer of security that can go a long way in protecting your account. With two-factor authorization, even if a hacker manages to steal your password, they won't be able to login into your account unless they also have access to your second factor.

If you are not using two-factor authorization on your Kraken account, we highly recommend you set it up as soon as possible. It only takes a few minutes to set up, and it can save you a lot of headaches in the future. If you have any problems enabling 2FA, call Kraken customer service.
