It is crucial to know what to do when a JetBlue flight you are supposed to board gets cancelled or delayed. You should also know what to do if you need to rebook a flight, the fees for doing so and the manner in which you will be compensated in case your flight gets cancelled.

First and foremost, JetBlue Airways will automatically send you updates in real time via email if there are any changes to your flight. You can also check the status of your flight through the JetBlue mobile app or through the JetBlue Flight Tracker and Status feature.

JetBlue Delay and Cancellation Policies

It is rare for JetBlue Airways to cancel a flight. When a flight is cancelled due to bad weather, JetBlue will try their best to cancel the flight at least four hours before its original departure. Passengers will be notified of flight cancellations via email, push notifications and automated phone calls.

Cancelled JetBlue flights will not be reinstated for any reason whatsoever. If your flight is cancelled, you should seek compensation and book another flight.

If you receive news that your flight has been delayed, JetBlue suggests that you arrive at the airport at the original departure time. If the delay is due to poor weather conditions and they improve, the flight may depart close to the original departure time or the plane may be substituted.

If your flight is cancelled due to poor weather, fees will not be waived unless there is a fee waiver issued by JetBlue. The fee can also be waived if the flight is cancelled by JetBlue.

Rebooking a Cancelled Flight

If your JetBlue flight is cancelled for any reason whatsoever, you can rebook your flight at no charge by contacting JetBlue customer service. You can choose to rebook a flight at the airport.

Compensation

If your flight is delayed or cancelled, you may receive compensation from JetBlue Airways if you booked the flight through the JetBlue app or by calling JetBlue customer service. If you qualify for compensation, you will receive an email from JetBlue within a week of your flight's scheduled departure without having to contact the airline.

If you did not book the flight by calling customer service or through the app, you should call JetBlue customer service and ask for compensation a week or more after the flight's scheduled departure.

If your flight is cancelled within 4 hours of the flight's departure, you will receive $50 of airline credit. If the flight is cancelled after the appointed departure time, you will receive $100 in airline credit.

If your departure delay is between 3 – 3:59 hours you will receive $75 of credit, if it is between 4 – 4:59 hours you get $100 credit, if it is between 5 – 5:59 hours, you get $150 credit, if it is 6 or more hours you receive $250 of airline credit.

For onboard delays, 3 – 4:59 hours long, you get $100 of airline credit. If the delay is 5 – 5:59 hours you get $175 credit and if it lasts 6 or more hours you receive $250 credit.

On the contrary, you will not receive compensation if your delay is due to a security threat.
