How Do I Send an Ach Payment from My HSBC Account?

Sometimes you need to move funds from your HSBC account to another bank, but how do you send an ACH (automatic clearing house) payment from your HSBC account? You can learn more about HSBC accounts and services by calling customer support, and below are the steps to sending an ACH payment.

Terms for ACH Transfers

It's important to understand the terms for sending ACH payments through HSBC. HSBC has the following guidelines:

  • You must use an HSBC deposit account to send funds.
  • Funds can be transferred to any United States financial institution, including credit unions and banks.
  • The minimum amount for an ACH transfer is $10.
  • The maximum amount is $50,000.
  • Transactions can be one-time payments or recurring payments.
  • HSBC will send emails to update you on the transfer status from the date you request the transfer to the date it is processed and completed.
  • Real-Time Payment Network transfers have limits of $2500-5000 daily.

How to Make an ACH Transfer

To make an ACH payment, you must do the following:

  1. Log into your HSBC online account access via computer or mobile app.
  2. Navigate to the "My Accounts" page.
  3. Click "Bank to Bank Transfers" under the "Useful Links" bar.
  4. Select "Add New Account" if you have not already added the payee (you will need the routing and account numbers and account type for the payee account).
  5. HSBC will verify the account and notify you via email once the account is verified. Verification can be completed in less than a minute in most cases but can take two to three business days, depending on the institution.
  6. After you receive verification, go back to the "Bank to Bank Transfer" page and enter the payment amount.
  7. Select the HSBC deposit account you will move funds out of.
  8. Click the bank the funds will be transferred to.
  9. Enter the date to send the funds.
  10. For recurring funds, select "Make Recurring" from the drop-down menu.
  11. Click "Continue"
  12. Follow the on-screen prompts.
  13. Monitor your email for confirmation the transfer was successful.
